Because if you gave it to Canelo for his cleaner power punches, then I don't see how you can give it to Martinez who did absolutely nothing better, aside like I said, his showboating and some acting. Martinez was just not effective at all.

        Two different fights.

But, if you must know, I gave it to Trout by one point, too. Not a robbery though; I can see why Canelo won on the judges cards.

There's doesn't seem to be an absolutist way to scoring close fights. It depends on the fight, I think.

I've seen it one time only, and there were close rounds which I didn't mark as usual.

but here were my initial impressions:

          Martinez
          Martinez
          Martinez
          Martinez
          Murray
          Murray
          Martinez
          Murray (kd)
          Murray
          Murray
          martinez
          martinez

Would you at least admit it was close, though?

Based on who landed the better punches, the more eye opening, effective, clean punching, Murray won. Martinez won the showboating contest for sure.
Murray landed the better punches overall, but he did little over the first three rounds, and I didn't feel he was effective enough to win several other rounds beyond doubt.

For most of rounds 6-10, he was by far the more effective fighter, probably more so than Sergio was at any point, but each round is equally weighted.

I only saw the closing rounds but I though Murray nicked them. He handed punches, Sergio hit gloves.

At least Trout landed more punches tan Alvarez. Martinez landed less and landed hardly anything big. He was thoroughly beaten from post to post for the majority of the fight.

Murray. Martinez' rounds were close rounds and could have gone either way where as Murray won all of his rounds clearly. Martinez hit gloves on a lot of his punches and Murray landed the harder and cleaner punches. Murray also scored a KD and should of had another one, and the ref called a low blow on a clear body shot that hurt Martienz and if the ref had not called a phantom low blow, Martinez could of even been put down another time because it clearly hurt him. Murray also landed more punches, landed with better accuracy and snapped Sergio's hear back constantly.

If that doesn't = a win, then I don't know what guys have to do anymore.

I didn't watch Canelo-trout yet. If you have Martinez winning, you're absolutely blind and i don't understand how you can possibly agree with Martinez winning 8 rounds. Makes absolute no sense.

No I don't care about or like Martin Murray.

I think Martinez snuck more "effective" straight lefts through Murray's guard than we might be giving him credit for. For the moment, and yes because I am a fan of Martinez, I have Martinez edging it out...though it was a piss-poor performance for a world champ and in light of Martinez's past performances. I'd like to come back to it in a week or so and watch it in HD to see though...

I had Martinez squeaking it. He pulled it out in the championship rounds. If it went the other way I would not have complained though as it was a very close fight.

I want to add though. Martinez is slowing down and he is a reflex dependent fighter. His days are numbered if he does not stop with the hands down and pulling back style. Fighters are reaching him more and more. It is just a matter or time.
