Nathan Cleverly has declared 2013 as the year he will unify the light-heavyweight division after polishing away the ring-rust against outclassed Robin Krasniqi at Wembley Arena on Saturday night.

Cleverly defended his WBO title for the fifth time with a landslide points decision against the tough but limited mandatory challenger, winning every round on two scorecards and all but one on the third.

It was only his fifth appearance in nearly two and a half years, but the 26-year-old hopes it is the beginning of a busy and triumphant chapter of his career that will see him acquire two more belts.

First in the crosshairs is WBA champion Beibut Shumenov with victory in that contest setting up his dream showdown with IBF king Bernard Hopkins. [Click Here To Read More]

If he wants to unify then why is he fighting a chain of bums?

Clev plays a different tune to the one he talks, always.

He was talking about Jurgen Braehmer on British tv earlier this month. Jurgen now?? Jurgen was crap ten years ago, but now?? Why talk about someone was an opponent when they are both crap when prime and old now mhuhah.

Never beleive anything Clev says he is the Prince of talking crap and an insult to Wales, British boxing would be so much better off without him.

Why does he have to defend against Jurgen Braehmer? He's just had a mandatory defence, hasn't he?

            Can someone fill me in?

I don't think he has to, hes just talking up someone who is not only crap but old now, so that he can appear to be THE man when he beats him.

Because of inactivity he has Braehmer as a second mandatory.

Usually unifications take precedence over mandatories with the governing bodies but since B-Hop is fighting Murat in July Nathan can either get his mandatory out the way or see if they can set up a fight with Shumenov.

Cleverly's young and he's saying all the right things, Calzaghe stayed away from the top guys till his 30s. I don't understand why Nathan gets so much hate on here.

Because he has been calling out Shumenov and Hopkins for years and ends up fighting, literally, a nurse.
