I can definitely agree with JMM on this. One win doesn't make a fighter elite. However, this fight does open up a lot of opportunities for Canelo; Hopefully he can take advantage of them.

For the most part I agree.

Significant win that legitimizes Canelo. But it doesn't make great or elite.

I doubt Marquez is jealous of Canelo. He has no real reason to be. Canelo is younger so of course he's the new hotness. He campaigns at a much higher weight class than Marquez so I doubt Marquez has any desire to fight him. And besides Marquez just knocked out his arch rival Manny freaking Pacquaio. What's better than that if you're a boxer?! He's known all over the world after that KO. He probably dislikes Canelo because he thinks he's arrogant or some other behind-the-scenes kinda thing. Marquez is sitting pretty on a hall of fame career and has a few more paydays ahead of him. Nothing to be jealous about.

Maidana beat Matthysse in the amateurs, I don't find Vanes to be that good of a pro he's lucky he can stay away from most 154 pounders

Although I don't think Martinez is elite, I think he'd be a great name for Canelo to have on his resume. There's only one way to become elite, and that's fighting the top fighters in and around your division. He wants Mayweather, but what if he doesn't get him? I think Martinez is the second best option.

He's just saying the truth. Any top 5 boxers in Canelo's resume? Maybe Trout because he was a champion, but Trout himself wasn't that great of a fighter to be considered a very dangerous opponent. We all knew Canelo would win. Whenever Canelo beats an opponent that we considered very difficult for him to beat, then we can consider him a great fighter. He is just 3 or 4 top names away from being considered atop of the rankings. Right now, Canelo will get his hands full against any boxer that presents an above average stamina, along with boxing skills (for example, Vanes, Lara, Molina). Forget Mayweather, he won't step in the ring against Canelo, unless he beats 2 out of those 3 previously mentioned. He needs way more stamina. He got a knockdown at the 7th round, and he couldn't chase Trout around the ring to finish it because he was flat tired!!! He had to use his legs and his waste more because he couldn't throw two punches at a time. The only thing that helps him a lot is that he IS a big puncher, one of the best power punchers from 140 to 175. He just needs a new strategy where he reserves more energy for the latter rounds, while winning the first part of the upcoming fights.
Way to lie about everyone knowing Canelo would win, I'm hoping he beats Cotto, Molina and Lara within the next year so you got nothing to say.
