a prime cotto (the washed up cotto took floyd to hell and back)
    .. now canelo

Floyd has a track record of avoiding RISKY fights, he will duck canelo like crazy while his fans defend him with their lives. last time i checked floyd is the 154lb pound champ, and last time i checked thats the same division canelo is in, i don't wanna hear ***** about canelo being too big!

if it smells like a THREAT floyd walks the other way. if he doesn't fight canelo next who will he fight ? he gains nothing by beating bradley or marquez, those are the only other two options, and the first fight with marquez he outweighed him and his fans didn't complain, so I don't wanna hear it. floyd has crazy skills but he hasn't taken ONE risk since he fought Diego Corrales.

Gaining too much back too quickly is actually more of a hindrance than a help.

I cannot believe some of the dumb **** I'm reading here today.
Talk about completely missing the point.

I don't care about the metabolic differences between two fighters. I don't care if a fighter is regaining weight or strength, just as I don't care if one is naturally stronger or faster than the other. You can't control those things.

What you can control is the rules of the game. It seems like you care more about fighters being able to make weight than you care about fighters fighting in appropriate weight classes. If that's the case, why even bother with weight classes at all? Just keep telling yourself that the guys best capable of abusing their bodies and getting away with diuretic use are the best boxers in the world.

With same day weigh-ins (and/or strict rehydration clauses), fighters won't be incentivized to engage in unhealthy behavior to make weight. The smart ones will simply fight in the right divisions. If some still want to do idiotic things to make weight the day of a fight, that's their problem. If they can get away with it, hats off. If they can't and they end up getting hurt, they can blame themselves.

"Oscar, Floyd Wouldn't Fight Pacquaio For The Largest $$$ In History; No Canelo!

You can zip tie Floyd and get him in the ring with Canelo, no way, no chance. Floyd wouldn't fight Pacquaio for $75m... NO WAY he climbs in the ring with Canelo. Floyd doesn't like getting hit, doesn't take a hit very well. A 40 year old Mosley nearly had Floyd KO'd in 2; just too old to finish the deal. Floyd will not get in the ring with Canelo, so quit talking about it. Osacr should know how that works. Floyd made the mistake of fighting Oscar, and most that saw that fight felt Oscar won the fight. Floyd so wanted nothing to do with Oscar after that fight, he walked away form a $25M rematch with Oscar. Floyd wouldn't take $75M to fight Pacquaio, and with two straight losses, Floyd STILL won't fight Manny; still too dangerous. NO WAY Floyd fights Canelo for any amount of money. Sergio Martinez has been calling out Floyd for 3 or 4 years and he won't bite. Didn't seem to bother Mosley too much to fight him. Floyd takes NO risks. Except he guessed wrong with Guerrero and will get KO'd in this fight.

Or, fighters that gain a one off paper belt in a division they're unsuited for could drop it on the spot, and stop pretending to be a legit champ at the weight and boasting about their #1 ranking at the weight.

Sure, but absent changes in the rules, nobody has an incentive to do that. The vast majority of the fighters coming in two and three weight classes heavier than they weigh in are doing what they're doing because they know they'd be dismantled by guys fighting legitimately at those higher weight classes.

For these fighters, being able to play the weight game is the difference between stardom and having to find another profession.

Pacquiao said how hard it was to fight at middleweight but Floyd says all work is easy work yet its not. we see different. reality is a bitcch!
Floyd never came in higher than 152. What are you talking about 15 pounds? That would mean he came in about 160

How do we know this? We only have 1 fight night weight for him since unretirement. He refused to step on the HBO scale for Marquez for example, also for Cotto

can never be sure, i believe Floyd was putting on the extra poundage as his way of gettin back at Marquez for having give him so much money. i recall Broner doing the samething to Escobedo, cause he wanted to get like big bro.
