If Kirkland landed ONE shot on Canelo, it would be over for the ginger. So that'd be a 50/50 fight, whoever lands first wins.

Don't pretend there was nothing wrong with what happened last night. Trout had no chance to win after 8 rounds, in a fight that was, in reality and not paid off Golden Boy land, dead even. And Trout knew that every step of the way. There's no way of knowing how that fight plays out if both guys aren't aware of the screwjob happening as they fought.

didn't need the Trout fight to tell us that
but it's more apparent now than before
Alvarez just isn't quick enough to do much with Floyd
don't know if Floyd would really hurt him, but he could tire him out easily
it's a comfortable UD win for Floyd

Yeah, I'm left wondering much of the same. That being said, it's a good fight to make, and I think it should be made. If I may borrow two paragraphs from my scorecard post:

"Canelo is a good fighter. I've long said he wasn't just hype, he just needed to go out there and prove it. In that regard, I guess he did. It wasn't emphatic, but it was a job done well enough. There is (and actually has been) a glaring flaw that many have noticed; his stamina and work rate will need improvement. Good fighters have gone long ways losing steam and/or taking rounds off; Shane Mosley/Miguel Cotto come to mind, but in an ideal Floyd Mayweather fight, this is not acceptable. Can you imagine a tired Alvarez trying to box Floyd Mayweather? Perhaps not as bad as, but something along the lines of Floyd vs Mosley, I imagine. That's not to say he shouldn't get a shot at Floyd, because that is a reasonable fight to make.

It should be said, a more active Alvarez would, almost certainly, come at the expense of his defense, which proved pretty good in this fight. And for a guy that rehydrated as much as he did, I was impressed with his ease of upper body movement. For a 22 year old young man, one has to wonder why he has stamina problems? I'm not sure he's yet big enough for 160, but I can't help but wonder if he's taking something out of himself getting down to 154???"

Like I said, it's a good fight and I think Canelo did enough to earn it. It can be made pretty easily.

Styles make fights. He will not fight Mayweather the same way that he fought trout. Trout is bigger and throws way more punches and even moves more than Mayweather.

Obviously Mayweather's defense is much better but we are looking at two very distinct fights with much different strategies.

I think Canelo is too big for Mayweather. I don't think Mayweather will fight Canelo. He will make every excuse in the world why NOT to fight him. If he takes the fight I will be shocked.
