really? i mean winning a lineal title is good, no? especially when you can make history doing it (winning a 4th lineal title in a 4th weight class)..that's why i feel pac's win against hatton is more meaningful because he beat him where he was lineal champ whereas floyd beat him where he was considered the WBA (regular) champ... what would be the point of manny moving down to 140? alvarado is not a world champ at 140, nor is he considered the top/best of the division.. and alvarado is a big guy so he won't be disadvantaged by moving up since pac is smaller (weight and height).

why would floyd, the lineal 147lb champ at the time, move down to beat Hatton for the lineal 140lb title? that would be odd.

I didnt mention floyd in the post and this isnt a floyd thread. I asked you a simple question about your opinion based on what you wrote. In no way is it trying to discredit the fight.

My post in no way is acting like Mike is anything other than a JWW moving up. All I asked was how does it factor into your assessment of the fight.You can't even defend your position because its so weak.

Once he was at 147 its hard to imagine him moving back down. It comes down to being the 1st to beat ricky or being the 1st to beat him at 140.

Just remember you only lose your ******ity once. You don't lose it again if you drop 7 lbs.

SMH, I'd be pissed AF @ Bob if I was Rios. Rios stops him in the first fight, and doesn't get a payday, yet Mike barely edges out a win, and instead of Brandon gettin' a rematch, Mike gets a Pacquiao payday.

Am kinda disappointed for Rios to be honest but timing is everything in boxing and this is a good fight to look forward to.

well floyd could have dared to be even greater and beat not only an undefeated hatton, but also win his lineal title in the process which would have made him lineal champ in 4 weight classes...

we seem to have diverted away from the thread topic. Manny as the 1st to win 4 lineal titles. He is a 1st ballot HOF'er.

That doesn't make fighting Alvarado at 147 any better or worse.
