Do some fighters willingly fight on the inside? Or is it only because they have to?

    Guys, or "boxers" like Toney, don't go there willingly, fighters only go onto the inside apparently if that is there sole way of winning. A "Boxer" doesn't fight inside, he just ties up.

    Imagine that, James Toney, fighting inside, because he wants to?! No way, can't envision that.

    That moves on to how Rigondeaux's inside game is actually boxing from the outside (Real quote).

    Rigondeaux's inside game is not allowing guys to get on the inside with movement, angles and crisp counters, apparently, much like Pernell Whitaker.

    Boxers don't fight on the inside unless forced. I mean, that's the question being beckond - "If you don't have to, why would you?" Errr, I don't know, because they can? And are comfortable, and want to break a fighter down maybe?

    By the way, if you dispute this, you don't know anything about Boxing Imagine that.
    Another great one: A prime Toney decides to fight entirely on the inside against an aging Barkley that he could have easily worn down and beaten easier by boxing more. He chose to put on a master class of inside skill that puts to shame the inside fighting of Rios, Margarito, etc.

        A great example is pacquiao, almost everyone here in NSB is saying that he doesn't know anything about inside fighting. How are we supposed to know that when nobody even wants to do inside fighting with him either? Bradley is good/average in everything he does, then why he didn't apply inside fighting against pac if that was pac's weakness and pac doesn't know how to fight there?

        IMO, inside fighting only happens when two fighters chose to do it there, ala castillo-floyd or rios-alvarado I, leonard-duran I. or when the other guy has way far effective footwork that can cut off and trap his opponents to push them to an inside fight.

        Great old example is jeff fenech, he was a hell of an inside fighter too, he pressures his opponent so bad in the inside that they are left with no choice. he drags them in the corner (because he's too big at 122) and make it a phone booth fight.

          Good post, that's what I've been saying all along, and Irondan's scorned self mae a thread about it, like a scorned GF.

            Mikey wanted outside, Salido wanted inside. Why, because that's where their advantages lies in the fight. Garcia holds. Ref breaks. Garcia gets the advantage.

            That's why the ref, in my view, plays a role in these fights.

              Does anyone else believe Boxers don't have inside games?

              Do "boxers" never willingly go onto the inside ala Bernard Hopkins?

              I personally loved this Gem;

              Or this;
              Well to be fair.. the current generation of heavyweight's biggest weakness is a lack of inside game.

              Wladimir Klitschko got non inside game. This is the primary reason that a lot of people think he will be knocked out by Lewis in a prime for prime match up. Lewis negates Wlad's biggest advantages with his own physicality and brings the added component of decent in fighting.

              Now in fighting don't really mean as much when you are of a higher caliber than your opponent. Wladimir have more of a chance against Bowe despite Bowe being the even better infighter than Lewis.. simply because Wlad is better than Bowe at multiple areas in which he's not better than Lewis.

              Wlad will still most likely get knocked out against Bowe, but he just have a better chance. If Wlad could fight on the inside like Lennox.. Than it's a 50/50 fight prime for prime.

                Good points, but I don't think Wlad could beat a prime Bowe. I could see him using the jab, and decisioning him, but not without getting caught at some point, and we all know Wlad has chin issues.

                  Is that the poster who made this thread? Ya.. That's kind of pathetic. It's a online forum.. why the hell will he make a thread because someone had an disagreement with him. But it's funny because threads like this usually lead to break downs if someone push him hard enough. It will be quite amusing if someone can force the OP to have an E-Melt Down.

                    Oh Agreed. Wlad will get caught by Bowe. There is no chance in hell he won't at some time. Bowe got a great chin and would put relentless pressure on someone like Wlad. The truth of the matter is.. Wladimir fought a total of maybe 4 punchers in his career and he was knocked out by 2 in brutal fashion. Guys like Wach are pure pillow fisted yet Wlad fans will pretend that he's a big puncher because he's '6'8'. Lol

                      He is quite a pathetic man. If you don't agree with him in the slightest, be prepared for a 30 page back and forth, and we he loses momentum in the slightest, he totally redirects the conversation, and changes the topic. Then when it's time for him to concede, he can't do it, and adds in a corny emoticon, as if he's mocking you in some corny sort of way.

                      He's a little kid trapped in a short man's body. It's funny seeing him break down on an internet message board.
