I dont get this whole lopez has a terrible chin thing, yeah sure salido dropped him and stopped him but did you miss all the flush bombs that he ate before finally going down? Lopez has a great chin

I agree with this, and I think Juanma will have more power, but lacks the skill.

Been watching Donaire for quite some time. Remember him knocking out Vic D. He showed some signs of being open to getting hit recently when a couple fights ago his eye was nearly swollen shut.

He hovered around in that weight class too long. Nonito telegraphs with right hand WAY too much. He should have gotten inside and ****** with him and he would have at least made it a closer fight. At least he knocked him down in the 10th round so he didn't get entirely embarrassed. But, the P4P hawks should have lost some respect for him now. I know I did. He should have fought Mares like the "Golden Boy" said. I knew 122 was too light for someone with his build at 5' 7".

Best of luck to both fighters though. Hopefully people don't dodge Rigondeaux, because even if others are calling him boring, I was thoroughly deligted at the boxing clinic he put on!

This is actually a great fight to me. Donaire's left hook vs. Juanma's right hook. There will be bombs landed all fight. No need to criticize Nonito's choice of opponnent after a bad loss and surgery. From there we'll see what happens. He won't really be able to fight smaller guys anymore at a higher weight.

Did you miss Concepcion hurting and dropping him? Did you miss Mtagwa having Lopez out on his feet? You realize Mtagwa never done that against any of the other top fighters he faced right?

I think Juanma punched him self out in that fight and his chin and heart carried him through.

So in other words, Donaire vs a stationary target. Makes sense.

And I hope people aren't getting their hopes up too high for this fight actually happening in October. After all Donaire has yet to go through the rest of the year (coming off a huge loss, a new baby, inactivity and especially a pending shoulder operation), my money says we'll see a relatively easy tune-up fight for Nonito first. I'm not saying the fight won't happen, but in a few months after things have calmed down, they'll start looking at the big picture.... and the big picture is that they can't afford to take a risk AS BIG as JML without making sure that Donaire is at 100%. Don't get me wrong, I personally don't want a tune up first (too many fighters take a tune-up every other damn fight) but most of us here have seen the way the business side gets run - So, I'm just sayin don't bet that this fight is really gonna happen in October like Arum says.

Should be a good fight if/when it does happen though.

Juan Ma is a lot better than people think. He got caught trying to muscle buy Salido....Ok. But this guy has the potential to be a murderous puncher. JUan Ma has the skills and needs to go back to cutting the ring off, stalking his opponent and using the craft more than youth and exuberance.

I know I will get laughed at but when Ifirst saw Juan Ma coming up he looked like a pint sized Joe Louis...

Juan Ma can take Donair. He knows how to go to war with a puncher....I hope he takes his time though and looks for his openings.

Yeah, get concussed, go to the hospital & have to take a myriad of brain scans - yeah, that sounds good. Love it when people want to see blood spilled as long as it isn't theirs, & don't know how it really feels..... SMDH.....

I agree with you completely. We're here because we're fans. But I wouldn't wish to expose these athletes, good and bad, to prolonged, potentially life-ending damage, no matter how "entertaining" it can be.

If Donaire had all those reasons he didn't do well against Rigondeaux, why not have a rematch. If the excuses are legit he should perform better. Not only that but the spotlight would also be on Rigondeaux again. Might help his marketability. Seems to me like Arum is fixated on Donaire so he's giving him an "easy" fight.

I agree. If we were to take Donaire's reasons for losing at face value, then Rigondeaux-Donaire II should happen. This will give Donaire a chance to redeem himself, and allow Rigondeaux to showcase his skills one more time, and more importantly, be rewarded for the job well done the first time.

What I find hard to accept, and very terribly disappointing, is NOT Donaire's seeming unwillingness or inability to make adjustments during the fight, even after being repeatedly given good instructions by his trainer. (After all, I have never been in a boxing ring, and I can never know how one is affected when exposed to the kind of skill that Rigondeaux exhibited.)

What I DO find hard to accept, and very terribly disappointing and frustrating, is Donaire's admitted lack of preparation. I believe he took his opponent for granted, and simply assumed that he would win by knockout, and easily. There was never a Plan B.

For someone who professes to appreciate his fans (and I am one of them) to admit that he didn't prepare adequately for a fight and took his opponent for granted felt to me like a heavy, painful slap to the face. Humiliating.

That said, if he is the warrior that he claims and I believe him to be, he should push for the chance to make it up not only to the fans who believed in him, but also to himself.
