Are you kidding? If there was a Rigo in his weight division, he'd avoid him like he was Lucifer himself.

Got nothing but respect for Donaire, he is still a champion in my eyes, there is no shame in losing to Rigo. I think he can fight him again in the future and maybe secure a win if he changes up his strategy, that fight he seemed different in a way though that could be in part to Rigo but w/e.

I'm still a fan here's hoping he comes back stronger.

His last good opponent was Mathebula, then Montiel, then Darchinyan. Rigondeaux is only his 4th good opponent. The rest that are hyped up as good or "top" fighters were whack and old or on the verge of retirement.

He didn't want to fight rigondeaux at all at first... then he loses and comes up with 3 different excuses. Props to him I guess, but he beat fighters he was supposed to beat. I'll say again: they better put him in against fighters that will just stand there, cause if you can box/punch donaire is vunerable.

Made too many excuses. And I just re watched the road to Donaire vs Rigondeaux and he was saying he will be 100% percent for this fight, we will see his best, he was preparing extra hard doing everything possible for this fight. All that crap and then when he loses he goes off about this and that. Nonito should have taken his lost like a man.

Nah, he didnīt want to fight Rigo. Arum forced him so he could transfer some stock into Rigo before Donaire gets killed at 126.

But yeah, props to Donaire i guess.

well a lot of people give carl froch respect and praise for fighting the best at super middleweight even though he lost to ward...like you said, it is a sad state of affairs that not a lot of guys are willing to clean out their division..so of course you'd give respect to those guys who are willing to put their record on the line to do it...

unfortunately donaire wasn't getting much respect before the loss...and it seems like he hasn't gained that much respect after...shame...
Donaire made twenty million excuses for not fighting and then made twenty million more after he lost. who the hell respects that?

Exactly, Donaire never wanted any part of this fight. He went from acting like Rigo didn't exist to saying he wouldn't fight him because he was too boring. After Rigondeaux renewed his contract with Top Rank with the promise of a Donaire fight, Nonito became really dismissive of Rigo. In the early stages of making the fight, Donaire demanded testing of his opponent for the first time (something he said previously he wouldn't do), and threatened to cancel the fight several times for minor issues during that process. Top Rank more or less had to make this fight. Nonito had no burning desire to face "the best".

Donaire can still go on to dominate and win titles at 126. Rigondeaux is just on a completely different level and could probably stay around like Hopkins defending his titles for ages.
