Rigo should become a star after a performance like this, but boxing promoters/media and critics that don't want to see certain boxers succeed aren't realizing their own money making potential when they won't support their own sport or their own fighters.

Come on guys, he doesn't have a very fan friendly style. His style only suits the hardcore fan, the main problem is he never takes risks even if he can. If it wasn't for Donaire trying to press the action we would have had two guys circling each other for 12 rounds last night.

They should've just made the Mares fight happen. That fight is more winnable for Donaire, it would have been a lot more crowd pleasing and brought in more money. Donaire could've then taken a break to be with his wife and child and continued to avoid Rigo until next year.

            shady

is bob arum admitting he wanted donaire to win cuz of the advertising struggle with rigo?? there was a scorecard that was for rigo 114-113, its wasnt the most fan friendly fight i enjoyed watching rigo make donaire look slow for the first time ever but is that card a sign that bob wanted to fix this more towards donaire?!!? always happens with top rank

What's with the backlash? He's right, Rigo's style isn't fan friendly and he runs a lot. But Arum signed him to Top Rank so that's his fault if he doesn't know how to promote him. How about putting him in some fights in Miami with Gamboa on the undercard or something?

As a guy who picked Donaire to win and as a guy who loves the sport, I was thoroughly entertained by the beautiful boxing clinic that Rigo put on. He dominated throughout and it wasn't even close. Shame on those "fans" who are still hating on Rigo. Those are the same fools who still rank Pacquiao as #1 p4p even though he's been getting owned for 8 years and put to sleep by JMM....

Rigo is an amazing talent, possibly the most talented boxer in the sport..with that said look at the consumer market. People just aren't buying to see mastery..people now have an abundance of combat sports that revolve around pure brutality and savagery..the public's consumption has changed and boxing purists need to wake up to that fact. Doesn't make the consumer any less of a fan but just like with baseball and basketball. People aren't paying to see Lebron score 16 points and get 6 assists, or to see a baseball player hit .280..they want 25 and 10 from lebron and they want hitter hitting .310. It's why guys like Pacquaio, GGG, Martinez, etc have all seen a rise in their name of meteoric speeds in the last few years. People want to see harder, faster, stronger...especially for the cost of the entertainment.
