Funny how writers talk wistfully and faux knowingly about Willie Pep yet complain about #Rigondeaux.

What #rigondeaux did was school a fighter most writers voted Fighter of the Year. That's elite and P4P.

Let's remind writers especially. Boxing - "hit and don't get hit". Veer away and it might be more fun but it's more dangerous.

Show it to any casual fan and he'll call it boring. Main reason this fight isnt considered boring by so many is because it was expected to be boring. There were very little exchanges in the fight, that much is clear. If you find 2 guys keeping distance and barely throwing all night "exciting" then all power to you, but lets not make it out to be some crazy exciting fight. Like i said most of the excitement came from anticipation of something possibly happening next

Nothing wrong with "BORING" look at the current Top 10 P4P, most of them have been labeled "BORING" so when your called "BORING" by the Casual Fans and Casual Fans Pretending To Be Boxing Experts....THAT IS A HONOR IN BOXING TODAY!

i don't even care about casual fans.....If your main focus is on casuals then more power to you buddy (but i don't care, I'm not a casual fan.)

I'm impressed of how easily rigo dismantled donaire.

most of the guys on here (the boxing forum) that are b*cthing about the excitement of the bout are actually salty about donaire not winning lmao.........so thats more of a scape goat. the fans here knew it wasn't gonna be a rios vs alvarado. so if b*tching about excitement is all you see them doing on here.......it means their salty that donaire was brutally dismantled lmao

In general, I think Rigo is more entertaining than Ward and Hopkins, but what bothers me is that Rigo didn't take the opportunity to put on a starmaking performance when it most counted and just mostly played it safe in cruise-control. This is especially important for a guy like Rigo who wasn't born in the US. Even with this great win, it's very unlike HBO will give him another headline spot unless it's a Donaire rematch. He'll at least get some HBO undercard spots, but he could forget ever seeing another big HBO paycheck.

Ward actually fought like a guy wanted to become a star in his HBO debut so I'm warming up to him.
