In my opinion, it is fair because "right now" at this point in time Rigondeaux has yet to show me these things which is what I would need to see to consider him a better technician than someone like Mayweaher.

You have to count things he hasn't done yet because "right now" he's yet to do them and show me he has the ability to deal with it to show his superiority in the category being discussed.

I'd say andre ward is a better tactician than technician. Rigo is very good at both. Mayweather is the best technician.

Regardless of your loyalties (ie even if you're a Pacquiao fan such as myself) it is easy to see that Mayweather is by far the best technician on that list. Rigondeaux is great but I knew he would win this because Donaire is tailor made for him. Mayweather has fought much better competition (besides Donaire obviously but Donaire is very overrated imo anyway) and many more styles. He's only been down once in his whole career (vs Judah - wasn't scored a knock down but should have been) whereas Rigondeaux has been down a few times already even though he's a so-called defensive genius. Don't get me wrong the guys defence is excellent but part of that is because his output is shamefully low even compared to Mayweather. Even though his output is shamefully low he lands at a lower percentage and takes a higher percentage of punches than Mayweather against a lower level of competition. We've seen no evidence of versatility or an inside game from Rigondeaux like we have from Mayweather. As far as we can tell Rigondeaux has one style but he's so good at it that it works for him. In my opinion Mayweather > Rigondeaux > B-Hop/Ward (and one could argue differently since we've seen no evidence of an inside game from Rigondeaux, but I guess this doesn't matter too much if he doesn't get hit - the question is could someone force him to fight inside?). However tactically we don't know how good Rigondeaux is as he's never had to switch up. Tactically B-Hop, Mayweather and Ward are geniuses.

Not here than I'm responding as someone who actually wanted Rigo to win. Rigo's been down twice at least already whereas Mayweather has been down once in his career against Judah in the divisions where knockdowns are more common. Rigo fight much more like a ***** than Mayweather - to argue otherwise is nonsense. Mayweather doesn't run as much as Rigo - he boxes. Rigo's output is pitiful even compared to Mayweather. Mayweather has a higher connect percentage and a lower land percentage against him than Rigondeaux despite throwing more and having better competition overall. Overall, Guillermo fights waaay more scared (if that's what you want to call it - I prefer the term boxing) than Mayweather does, that's the truth. Mayweather is better in every category that Rig apart from power.

Damn this guy is getting overrated. He's had 12 fights and has only shown one style. You need more consistency than that. Yes he's beaten a top level fighter but 5 fights ago this guy was struggling with Cordoba. Like I said, Mayweather lands at a higher percentage and takes less even though he throws more against better competition overall.

can create openings whereas rigondeaux mainly only baits looking to counter, baits that are painfully obvious even to his opposition, but very difficult to counter-act, that's why alot of guys just shut down offensively and we get a no-show kind of fight where rigo just lands 1-2 punches a round and calls it a round

rigo is obviously very smart, but i feel he has more of a highly refined few set of skills that is an absolute nightmare to overcome put together, esspecially with his speed and power

where as the others can basically do it all(mayweather moreso than ward)

like the saying jack of all trades, master of none
I dont disagree completely but I feel youre selling Rigo's offense (what we ve seen) short. In all his fights that he's gone on the offensive he has looked untouchable as well. He did it to Donaire too. When Donaire would land, Rigo would go on the offensive and even exchange to the point Donaire would take a step back and just stop engaging. It wasnt just a defensive display we saw last night. We saw a guy who could initiate with lead lefts, jabs into hooks, etc at will. Rigo waa able to initiate body attacks from a distance against Donaire and there was nothing Donaire could do about it. I think you can have a great offense without being traditionally like a matthysse whos a terminator. Its just different. Offense isnt just your attack. Guys like Floyd and Bernard put a lot of pressure on guys without throwing punches and back guys up without hitting them. Rigo has displayed that same type of psychological pressure. Rigo wasnt taking steps back in the first rounds and was getting in close range, slipping everything, getting his off and then getting out in no particular hurry. All this without initiating clinches. He's similar to Floyd, Bernard an Toney in that sense that he ISNT uncomfortable up close. These guys are so cagey even up close that you often see these guys get so far in their shoulder is in the opponents stomachs and theres nothing they could do about it.

Lets also not forget he hasnt HAD to do anything else and he's only 12 fights into his pro career.

I do agree though that he does settle into what he does best but he does it so good it's practically impossible to stop. Max made a funny comment that kind of fit in calling Rigo a jedi master of what he does. I don't think it's sinking in to people just how impressive what Rigo did is. Can you even fathom a (smaller) guy with 11 fights come in and out boxing Andre Ward every single round? Or Floyd in his prime? Rigo out Donaired Donaire. Donaire is an absolute PROVEN p4p stud in his prime. It's one fight, true but he's made every guy look like this. Rigo has reached the height of his career 12 fights in. He could lose his next fight but you coukd bet your life it will have been to a lesser fighter than Donaire. People are jumpig off the Donaire train but they shouldnt. Donaire is going to watch the tape and be disgusted with himself and will come back better than ever.

Considering Ward is not as fast, or athletic as the other 2, I'd have to say Him. Floyd and Rigo have the advantage of speed soundly behind them. To do what Ward has done being average in terms of speed and athleticism, he deserves some recognition.

add wlad klitschko to that list and you'd have my top four.

mayweather is not as sharp as he used to be, but he's still the best technician in the game, imo.
