The same case could have been made for the donaire/rigondeaux fight. Rigo just started as a pro but still got a fight with donaire. Now look what happened...rigo whooped his ass and that's what will happen to Martinez...GGG would destroy him.

I agree with Dibella. Let Golovkin fight Macklin and another decent fighter, win and then work on a Martinez fight. As exciting as Golovkin is. He really hasn't beaten anyone to note. Macklin is a good fight for him. Sergio would beat him in my opinion.

The difference is that Martinez is actually a skilled fighter who has some pop himself. Accompanied with some good speed he is a problem for anyone at 160. Not to mention he can take punishment. Donaire was hyped up going into the fight with Rigo and so would Golovkin. Martinez would beat him. Be a great fight but Sergio's the better fighter.

As he says it's his job to make as much money as possible. Promoters aren't in the game to satisfy fans and unify titles, they're there to make money with as little risk as possible; so of course he's not gonna put these two in together and have one of them lose credibility if they lose. He's gonna put this fight on the back-burner and let it grow until as much money as possible is on the table.

Well no one is calling Macklin the most avoided MW of all time, the Martinez fight will happen and the longer it takes the better for GGG, Maybe they think this is Sturm but this isn't, when the fight is ripe then both fighters would cash out of the fight.
