For those of you who are making excuses for Donaire's poor performance in this contest by saying that Rigondeaux simply ran too much; Here's the deal. Guillermo simply outclassed Nonito in every phase of this fight. He literally took him to school and made him look very amateurish by neutralizing his only strength which was power, in reducing him to loading up on single punches at a time for a KO. Moreover, Donaire's punches were so wide and slow, that Guillermo saw them coming a million miles away so they couldn't find their mark.

In addition, he punished Nonito in that ring too. As a matter of fact, he hurt him in the very first round and not to even mention the 12th; With the very first counter left hand, he landed against him, which had him reeling onto the ropes. Also, Donaire very low punch output in the fight could very well be attributed to his fear of Rigondeaux's punching power. That was probably why he was so tight, reluctant and loading up on single haymakers at a time; Due to Rigondeaux's lethal counters. Because had he opened up more, then the likelihood of him probably getting knocked out himself would have been that much greater.

It's his fight, he's in there to win not entertain some couch potatoes. Why risk it in your first big fight when you're already cruising beautifully to a victory.

I don't know who's more afraid of the two, you're telling Nonito's fear of Rigo's power attributed to Donaire's lesser punch output and yet Donaire was the one hunting Rigo all throughout. My point is, Rigo could've done more to put down Donaire. He's just happy to have a decision win.

Rigo made Donaire fight his fight and beat him at it, it's that simple. Fights like last night really separate the boxing fans and KO fans.

lol why didn't the guy that was losing step it up to make it up on the score card?
Rigo was winning comfortably and waiting for Donaire to get impatient and go for it.
When Donaire went for it he usually ate a counter and Rigo broke his face when Donaire went for broke in the last round.
              Stop being biased.

i think thats because of the surrounding circumstances. what happens last in a fight has so much to do with how fans perceive the entire night.

rigo went down, but he recovered before the count was done and then beat donaires ass all over the ring to close out the fight.

martinez was hurt badly, inches away from being stopped and spent the last moments of the fight in full survival mode.

that last round of the fights were complete opposite, martinez closed the show in survival mode and it cast a big shadow over his performance. meanwhile rigo closed the show by intensifying his schooling of donaire.

Nothing to compare. Chavez jr is good, but no where near the level of Donaire. I'd even go as far as to say this Rigo win could possibly the single greatest of the last decade.
