He's currently #2 behind #1 Geale and Champion Sergio so not sure where else he could be ranked.
If Golovkin takes out Macklin in 5...

It would be sad if the kid doesn't get a proper chance.
It might be a wishful thinking but Golovkin has potential to be great not just in his generation but to be a legit ATG.
Every time he fights I have an impression he is invincible. Reminds me of young Mike Tyson.Comment

If Sergio retires and Golovkin goes on to beat the **** out of the rest of the division, that would prove he's on par with Martinez. I don't think he is, but it really wouldn't be that hard to be a better middleweight than Martinez, if Golovkin is the truth.
If he smashes Macklin early in the fight, or even dominates and beats the hell out of him over 10 rounds or so, there won't be any more denying that he's the best possible fight for Sergio to take.Comment

Are you trolling or do you people actually believe this? He's 30 with absolutely NOBODY on his resume...Originally posted by SimurghIt would be sad if the kid doesn't get a proper chance.

He is very active though. Will have 3 fights by the half-way point of 2013. If he can land the fights, his age shouldn't be a problem.
He has a lot of potential but I just don't think the opponents are there for him to become an atg.Comment

Active dont mean crap if you gonna be fighting Rosado's and Ishida's then a Macklin and then back to the Rosado's again. And the MW division is not deep enough anyway. He would have to take out a top guy at 160. Go back down to 154 and fight Canelo-Trout winner then beat Ward and whoever else. That ain't happening.Originally posted by The Weebler IIQuote:

For Christ sake, the guy called out everybody from 154 to 168. It's clear that he wants that fights. And his career basicly started last year when he beat Proksa. So far he's been impresive. You can't say he won't be ATG just now when his career has begun, just like those ******s who said Zou Shiming won't accomplish anything after his very first fight. Come on...Active dont mean crap if you gonna be fighting Rosado's and Ishida's then a Macklin and then back to the Rosado's again. And the MW division is not deep enough anyway.
