I thought dude was pretty good.....especially for his first pro fight. He showed great movement and speed....nothing to suggest he is going to be an atg but a huge, huge star in China though. I'd say Rigo is more impressive so far......It appeared that Shiming didn't have much pop on his shots too.

Your right but it's not a fair comparison. Zou fought in his home country and Bob put a lot f money into the promotion. If Cuba opened up and even allowed pro boxng, relative to the population in China, Rigo's pro debut would have been just as successful.

I thought Zou was pretty good. Fast and you can tell he's got skills. Do I think he can win a major world title in 8 fights, not sure and he doesn't have much time to do it as he is already over 30.

I'd like to see him 1 more time. He seemed a bit too excited for the debut. I'd like to see he when he settles down.

Shiming is GARBAGE!!, but Bob is gonna sell the Chinese people that bridge in Brooklyn.

I dare Bob to put this guy in with the guy who just crushed Brian by years end....
It actually proves that Olympic and amateur boxing don't mean sh#t in the pro's. Both Rigo and Zou will be KO'd senseless in the next year.

Really, you need learn to read with understanding. "Debut/skill set" is in the thread title. Obviously Shimings debut was more impressive than Rigondeaux, since he filled up an entire arena while Rigo debut in a bingo hall looking hotel room. That's the only decisive comparison between the two. We can't compare skills sets yet from just 1 fight, the sample size is too small.

Zou reminded me of a sloppier even a weaker defense less power Kahn , it's his first fight so well see what happens but not impressed at all.

That is not a fair comparison because you are thinking of the amateur boxing skills, but we will see what they do in the pro's THEN we can compare them. A lot of great boxers can be beat by better FIGHTERS this is the hurt business not the points business i havent seen enough of the Shiming dude in the pro's to say anything about he's potential.

I understand the marketing aspect, and while I agree it opens up a new pot of money, doing whats best for the money has not always been the best thng for the core/real boxing fans.
Shiming as a fighter is garbage, and not worth the hype thats being put out there.
But as a money making tool, I understand. I'm a fan of boxing, not a fan of the money making buisness in boxing.
Put the money on the real talent IMO, Shiming is a garbage golden ticket
Rigondeaux is getting $750K for this fight with a possible $300K bonus if he wins by KO. He's definitely being well taken care of by Uncle Bob.

The Jap that won a Gold should have turned pro. He was good.
