        low blow?

I just watched it again and the first point deduction was dubious (borderline blow). Then came another clear low blow, for which Marquez was not penalised. Then, in the 11th, Marquez went low again and he deserved a points' deduction that time. But the deductions made no difference to the outcome. Even without them John would have won by four points (twice) and two points. What John did brilliantly was nullify Marquez's counter-punching skills with his speed, and he kept on parrying his attacks. He definitely landed more punches than Marquez, although they weren't as heavy. It was definitely a close fight but excluding the low blows, John edged it by one or two points. It wasn't a robbery. And, by the way, Freddie Norwood was another who clearly beat Marquez. There were no arguments about that one.

Nah, he got robbed in that one too. Plenty of arguments. Yep, he was robbed.

If that fight between JMM and John had occurred somewhere else, it certainly would've been a victory for Marquez. You need to be a JMM hater or a "******" fan of John to claim that the asian boxer won that fight. John has fought the majority of his bouts in Indonesia because he is favored most of the times by judges and he even wants a proposed second fight vs. JMM there to ensure another controversial decision (John just needs to finish standing to get a win). But because practically all of his fights have been in Asia, he is really unknown in the rest of the world besides he never will make it among the best top 20 #x# and he also will keep envying the fame and money that JMM is enjoying even at his advanced age.

TRANSLATION: "I got a gift against Marquez in my homeland." "I don't fight in the US, because the last 2 times I ventured out there, I was almost got KO'd by a C-level fighter named Rocky Juarez."

Marquez went low several times, so the two points' deductions were legitimate, but even without them John would have won a fairly wide unanimous decision. The scores were 116-110, 117-111 and 116-112. The referee, by the way, was from Panama and the judges from the USA, Thailand and Japan. The American judge, Oscar Perez, gave it to John by six points. John is often criticised for only fighting at home, but, in fact, he has travelled to other countries for nine of his WBA title fights - twice to America, twice to Australia, twice to Singapore and three times to Japan.
Chris, is that you? Get off Boxingscene and get back to training.
