When a fighter is chasing his opponent and not getting hit while doing the chasing, then his opponent is not boxing, he is running.

Go chase after Mayweather, Hopkins, Wlad, Ward, see if they just stare at you running in circles for 30 seconds with their glove up.

The fighters you listed are deceptively aggressive. Anyway what you said does not amount to running, too many boxing fans have an unsophisticated approach to battle, overlooking the psychological aspect. Moving around with your guard up can frustrate impatient fighters which will ultimately lead to them taking unnecessary risks and paying for it.

I think boxing is the only sport where the time constraints of the match ( rounds in the case of boxing) are not taken into consideration by the fans. In any other sport fans have enough sense to realise that the team in the lead will sit on the lead, let the clock play out and let their opponents take the risk.

Man, don't be so ****ing deliberately thick Kev.

First of all, you just listed the 4 best boxers of today. That's their style. They box. They mostly move, fight off the back foot etc etc.

We're talking about Mike Alvarado. You expect him to be able to feint and slide and get inside like Hopkins? Use his footwork to keep someone resetting and fight when he wants to fight? You expect him to be able to set up some counters off the ropes like Mayweather or Ward?

You expect him to use his half foot in height and massive reach advantage over every opponent to just spend time sticking his jab like Wlad? Oh wait, he's the same size as everyone he fights.

You talking abut Wlad, if Alvarado had just spent the last two rounds throwing a jab and then clinching all round you'd be having a ****ing heart attack right now.

Alvarado won the fight by making Rios fight his fight, when he (Alvarado) wanted to fight. If he didn't look like Mayweather, Ward and Hopkins while doing it, , that's because he's mainly a straight up fighter and doesn't usually box that much. If he made some bad choices that's because he's not an ATG, HOF level boxer.

However, what he did was not running. Spending ten seconds moving until he was ready to fight, then pasting the **** out of Rios with hard shots is not running.

Comparing what he did to Ward, Hopkins and Mayweather though?

        Come on man.

Who cares if he ran, he won the damn fight clearly. Stop trying to take Alavardo's glory away with these ****** threads. Rios lost, get over it.
