Why do guys say: "He's most likely going to avoid the fight!" - Why the hell would he open negotiations with Pulev if he didn't want the fight?

Because it's a high risk/semi-low reward fight. Negotiating several opponents is common if nothing else, then to put pressure on the opponent they REALLY want. I cannot say if that's the case here, but it could be in order to make Charr (or someone else) lower their financial demands. In any case we will see. Bear in mind that Pulev is not known among the British sports fans so it's not a given that such a high risk fight sells any better than a fight agains Steve Streetsweeper.

What's most likely going on is Haye prospecting opponents, finding the cheapest vs highest ranked solution and going with it.

And the easiest perhaps?

Pulev is a good prospect, but Haye is too quick and strong for him.

No doubt that Haye would be Pulevs toughest fight to date, but I'd also say that Pulev would be Haye's best win at HW.

What's Pulev shown to make you think that Yoz?

Serious question because I know you hate Haye, but i'd personally be VERY confident in Haye getting Pulev out of there within 8.

Pulev is there to be hit, uses (not great) reflexes to avoid punches, has no experience whatsoever fighting a moving target, and has average power at best.

I do like Pulev against the less mobile, robotic fighters but personally Haye is just all wrong for him. Like him or not he is ridiculously fast and elusive when he needs to be, and Pulev does not have the footspeed to keep up with Haye and nor does he have the inside game required to put him away, this will be a stand off fight with Haye being faster, more elusive and a lot more powerful, and Pulev's chin will likely get cracked.

I see Pulev jabbing at thin air, getting frustrated and countered, Haye is not a lumbering oaf like Ustinov or just pure and utter trash like Dimitrenko.

Also why do Hayeters always say he's gonna "get stopped" when Wlad never even came close to stopping him? The only way Pulev wins is if he manages to outwork Haye.

Its not that I HATE Haye; I just think he's overrated.

Pulev is a durable guy, and Haye has stamina issues. Unless Haye could land something telling in the first 5 or so rounds, Pulev would simply wear him down.

Don't get me wrong, I think it'd be a great fight; but Haye has always taken the easy route. I don't see him changing now.

I'm not sure it's such a high risk. At least, I assume both Booth and Haye would be confident in beating Pulev, which is why they must have made contact. The manager of Pulev said on WBN yesterday, that they were in "advanced negotiations" which means it must be pretty serious. Would he cost more than Charr? Or at least much more? I'm not so sure.

But of course it's common.

I'm not completely sold on the idea that Pulev would be Haye's best win. If Haye KOs him in 3 rounds, would you say the same? If it was a grueling battle over 12 hard fought rounds then probably yes. At this moment in time, Valuev is still Haye's best win and would probably still be if he beat Pulev. Until Pulev fights a genuine top 10-15 opponent and beats him, it's hard to say how good he is.

Try to avoid it? If he wanted to avoid it he wouldn't be in negotiations to start with.

I like this fight. It has a potential to be great one.

I am leaning towards Haye, but very evenly matched IMO.
This one is much better than charr. credits to both fighters if it happens.

Pulev is much better than Charr. But even if Haye fights Charr that will be acceptable.

Haye is struggle to get fight with any of the top prospects after that chisora ko. There just using his name to get a klit fight

Opening negotiations with someone you don't want to fight doesn't make any sense at all. Maybe if they wanted some publicity from it, but they didn't mentioned his name and it was Pulev that has made it public knowledge, so that's pretty much ruled. The Klitschko's drive a hard bargain many fighters that have dealt with them say their contracts are terrible, Haye agreed to all Vitali's terms at the end of 2011 and Vitali didn't want to know. He said he offered a contract to Haye for September but he chose Chisora, his own brother thinks that it wasn't a serious offer. None of Haye's other opponents have complained about Haye's negotiations..

Haye fighting Manuel Charr would disappoint me. But all of Vitali's fans who defended Charr as a legit opponent can't say anything negative about that choice if it happens.

I think everbody agreed Charr was garbage in the wake of the Vitali fight.

And what top 10-15 wins does Haye have? If you count Valuev's robbery wins over Donald and Holyfield maybe you'd have a case for Valuev being top 15. As things stand Pulev is light years better than anyone David has faced and I'd give him props if he took the fight. But lets be honest, David ducks this fight.
