On a personal level I get it, but damn HBO is a publicly traded company I can understand wanting to get back at them a bit since HBO did help GBP a great deal but I don't see how this helps out HBO's business which should be their goal.
That is exactly how HBO is acting like though, I know boxing is just a small part of HBO which is a small part of Time Warner but such an ordeal does make me question the leadership of that company.Comment

Mayweather generates money and buzz so this could win it for Golden Boy and Showtime. I'm sure if Golden Boy thought it would be a bad move that they would not have made it considering HBO is a bigger network than Showtime.Comment

In the grand scheme of thing HBO is fine boxing is a small part of HBO which is a small part of Time Warner and if they have the desire they can build up a new crop of boxers, that just involves a lot of time and effort on their part. SO my question would be is it worth it to them considering how small potatoes boxing is to their bottom line, but live sports are very important in the current TV market.Comment

that's ridiculous. boxing to hbo's business is only like 5%-10% exposure compared to gbp whose entire business is all about boxing. not really siding with hbo but that company is a giant compared to gbp. losing gpb doesn't really have a big impact to their business...they got rid of gbp because they can as simple as that. they have a lot other business ventures that could make them busy.Comment

That they cut ties with GBP is hardly surprising given the facts. If someone's providing your business with low quality products and is giving all their best stuff to your competitor, how long are you going to tolerate it for? Sick relationships should be ended.Comment

If that is the case then why did HBO take it personal when Golden Boy started showcasing their fighters on Showtime and got Floyd the deal? If Boxing was such a low % business for them then why cut off all ties? One thing you guys are not taking into consideration that corporation don't look at losing any % of money as whatever. How do you think rich people and successful businesses stay a float? Every lil bit counts. Rich people don't think like this.
what do you mean they took it personal? it's all about business...don't you realize how ****** it was for you to say it's personal? their relationship was purely business and nothing personal so if hbo broke it, it's a business decision. business relationships gets broken everyday in the corporate world and that's pretty normal. they would just tell you it's a business decision and nothing personal. what's so strange with hbo that they're taking it personal like what you're saying?
hbo can't just sit down and watch gbp bring their fights to their competitor...it's not favorable to their business so they let gbp go as simple as that.
anyway they can get fights from other promoters to fill in their 2 or 3 times a month boxing show so it doesn't really hurt their business.Comment

Yeah, and Golden Boy respected their decision and kept it moving and here we are. HBO doing them dirty according to Schaefer. We don't really know in dept details but Golden Boy offered HBO Broner and Hopkins as a good gesture to continue the collaboration. Business is what Schaefer did to an extent by going over to Showtime where Golden Boy's ex lawyer is. That is a business decision. The Canelo/Martinez thing was a b!Tch move but if my ex lawyer went to another network then the smart business thing to do would be to do business with him. I'm telling you man from experience..... People in business make decisions sometimes for personal reasons. Look at Bob Arum. He's in HBO ear big time. Anyway, all of them will continue to prosper and do new things. All things come to an end. The key is to not care about what is already done.
sorry didn't read that.
son, if there's something you need to learn the words "personal" and "loyalty" does not exist in business.
that's your lesson for the day...will no longer reply to you as it would just be a waste of time. but please don't take it personalComment
