I will never get why HBO started that fued~
It is like a grocery store picking Coke over Pepsi and only selling that product while another chain that could sell both randomly deciding to not sell the one sold by the other other store.
HBO really could have taken advantage of the situation had they played their cards properly instead of playing 52 pickup with them~
GBP wanted to be like the UFC and stated that years a go. I can see why TR got very annoyed and anti GBP.
HBO paid a lot to GBP fighters and gave many dates to them in 2011. GBP became disloyal and started using Showtime more and more.Comment

I know that. They still made a mistake. Just because They worked with the guy in the past doesn't mean its a smart business move. HBO is the network. GBP lost. That's like saying going to the CFL and leaving the NFL because your ex business partner runs it is a better move. It's not a smart move considering HBO has the TOP rated shows and 3 times the subscribers. See guys like you think with your heart and not your mind. The move wont effect die hard boxing fans. The thing is to get fair weather people watching it!! People who watched Game of Thrones and didn't change the channel or watched Treme or Watched TRUE BLOOD... That's the move. People who don't normally watch boxing but seen The Rios fight and was like WTF.. I want to watch this again. That's the business move. That's smart Business. HBO has fights lined up until Summer already. Khan is still trying to find an opponent. Things like that is why the Showtime move is ******. They should just have kept doing fights with both companies. Fighters will start leaving GBP to fight on HBO because its more money. EVEN Broner still says he is MR HBO.. You need some business SENSE... Your analogy is even silly. What it is like is if Coke said I won't put my products in Wal-Mart. Do you know how ****** that would be on Cokes behave?? When Wal mart is the biggest retailer in the country.Last edited by bundy7; 04-03-2013, 05:12 PM.Comment

GBP owns Showtime and wanted to own HBO as well.
Not realistic at all. If GBP was smart they would have formed another promotional arm that was perceived as a rival to them that worked with HBO exclusively.
Then eventually they could have merged both companies and controlled the entire thing.Comment

GBP is pretty much limited to Showtime, HBO can deal with other promoters. How is that a loss for HBO?
If anything GBP just hurt themselves, instead of 2 companies fighting to showcase their fights, they're limited to just Showtime.
Boxing is a worldwide sport, there are plenty of stars out there.Comment

Showtime had more GBP fights and HBO obviously had a right to decline.

Oscar also did not appreciate some of the ways Arum did things.
That is why they don't get along~
HBO did more than that they helped GBP since they began and got them started but GBP is a business like HBO they are out for a profit, if HBO doesn't want to pay and Showtime is making a better offer it that is what it is. Now HBO doesn't need to meet GBP's demands or buy their fights but being that HBO is in the content providing business and GBP provides content they are involved in it would seem wise to not shut that door even if just for negotiating purposes and the off chance something they want becomes available.Comment
