Matthysse might hit harder than Rios, but he certainly does no have the constant pressure that Rios has, and he's a slow starter.
Rios doesn't have a good engine. On all available evidence Matthysse does.
This is true. After the 5th or 6th I saw Rios had lost some steam In his punches and that's why Alvarado was being more and more successful. Rios' punches weren't affecting him as much.
no way. rios has very heavy hands. he hurt alvarado with a damn jab.
matthysse's got good timing and he sets stuff up, and he can ****, but rios is a brute.
if you stand still rios will put you down sooner than matthysse will.
I don't know about that, Matthysse is a natural 140lber who has demonstrated his power at this weight against many opponents, Rios only fought one guy at the weight. A durable guy I'll give you that, but somebody who compliments Rios's style nicely.
I think Lucas would KO him in 8 rounds or less. Lucas is a great puncher and a very good boxer. I don't see how Alvarado can beat him by outboxing him the way he outboxed the tough, hard hitting but limited Rios. Alvarado is a fighter, not a runner. He will stand his ground and fight Lucas and he will get KOed. The timing, accuracy, speed and power of Lucas' punches is superior to the punches of Rios. I don't think Lucas has ever been knocked down or hurt as a pro. He is just as tough as Rios and Alvarado and a better boxer and a harder puncher.

matthysse's smaller than rios. their walking around weights are pretty far apart. i know that sounds funny, given the weight history, but that's the truth. rios cuts a ton of weight when he trains, and a bunch more the week of the fight by drying out. very few fighters do that to the degree that he does. it's more popular in MMA. matthysse isn't one of them.
matthysse was 138.5 against dallas jr at the weigh in. at 137 lbs rios looked looked completely drained.
now, i know that matthysse put on a ton of weight according to the fight night scales in his last fight, but he could have been fully clothed and shodden, and i don't believe he's ever weighed that much before.
they're similarly sized guys at the least. matthysse isn't bigger than rios. when rios' metabolism slows down when he hits 30 [mathysse's age] he'll probaly be a welterweight, and 160-165 lbs on fight night.
