I agree. GGG being untested, and unskilled, will walk into Chavez' punches. Chavez is too big for anyone at that weight to hurt him. We have to remember, GGG is an untested guy knocking out bums. He probably wont have the power for a real elite fighter. Martinez is an elite champion with TREMENDOUS power, and he couldnt even phase Chavez. So its NO WAY GGG will be affective with that style. Chavez will stop him in the 3rd round. Martinez is my favorite, but I think Chavez will stop him in the rematch, due to him being too big for Martinez. In the first fight, he realized that Martinez couldnt hurt him, so he baited Martinez into landing counters, and hitting him while eating a shot. In the rematch, he will do the same thing, only earlier.

I wonder if Chavez has improved enough to stop Billy Lyell in 3 rounds, or at all

That fight didnt make him a better fighter. He got destroyed because MARTINEZ is a great fighter, not because Chavez is a BAD fighter. We started calling Chavez a better fighter, two fights before the Martinez fight, when he started beating the crap out of people.

Its not that amazing out boxing a guy like Chavez who used no jab and doesn't know how to cut off the ring. If you pay attention Golovkin has a very good and powerful jab, and he fights intelligently.

My concern is the best fight the best. I don't care who wins.

As for your cute Hopkins jab (which shows how you're taking this conversation personally) Hopkins fought every title holder and every #1 challenger at MW, something we can't say about Sergio.

First of all, it is impressive outboxing Chavez, when he's too big for the weight class, and he weighs about 200lbs. It actually IS impressive when you look like a little midget, walking down a Giant. Martinez WALKED him down, and DOMINATED him. It was VERY impressive. GGG is a decent UNTESTED fighter, but we dont even know if he can phase an elite fighter. Untested guys seem to lose all of their power when they fight an elite fighter, and their solid chin, ends up being a glass jaw. They cant take the punch of elite champions. If Martinez couldnt hurt Chavez, its NOOO WAAAY GGG can even phase him. Martinez is an ELITE champion with PHENOMENAL power. GGG is an untested guy with GOOD power, for an untested fighter. Him and Chavez would walk right into eachother, and he's too small to go to war with Chavez.

Also, Martinez fought the absolute best opposition, at the time they were their to fight them. Does Bhop have a better resume than Martinez? YES

BUT Bhop, carefully cherrypicked smaller guys, ducked certain fighters, waited until Tarver lost all that weight to fight him, ducked Dawson for 3 years, only fought him because he signed a step aside contract with Pascal, then faked an injury to avoid the fight. Only fought the rematch because he was forced, and is currently DUCKING WARD!!!

Martinez is not smart enough to plan his career like that. He will fight anyone. And this is coming from a guy who is ADMITTING that Bhop has a better resume.

Rubio, and Lee. Those where the fights when people started going wild, getting excited, started giving him props. Before the Martinez fight, the general conception was that MAYBE Martinez was getting older, at the same time Chavez was getting better. Martinez had those horrible performances against Macklin and people started thinking he wasnt the same. And he was waaay too small for Chavez. I predict Chavez to win the rematch, and Im a Martinez fan.
