Comments Thread For: Bellew Wants Redemption, Chilemba Says 'No UK' Fight

Liverpool’s Tony “Bomber” Bellew (174lbs) failed to fire on Saturday night when meeting Malawi’s Isaac “Golden Boy” Chilemba (173lbs) at Liverpool’s Echo Arena in an eliminator for Chad Dawson’s WBC light-heavyweight title. Bellew was made to miss on a regular basis by Chilemba en route to a split draw — scores of 112-116, 114-114 and 116-115 from Christophe Fernandez, Fabian Guggenheim and Eddie Pappoe respectively.

Bellew, now 19-1-1 (12), disagreed vehemently with the verdict, but Chilemba, 20-1-2 (9), made an equally compelling case for victory. It leaves both men in a state of limbo. Bellew has a British title fight with Bob Ajisafe pencilled in for May 25th, on the undercard of Carl Froch versus Mikkel Kessler, but their September 2010 meeting was a stinker and the rematch has about as much allure as a night with Marilyn Monroe’s remains.

I thought Chilemba nicked it but that a draw was fair.

Tony was the aggressor 1st half and Chilemba the 2nd. When Chilemba stepped it up, though, he made Bellew look really ordinary.

      I'm not surprised.

A guy with his style is unlikely to get a decision against Bellew in the UK.

To be fair the rematch has to happen outside of the UK!

Bellew should leave the rematch, I feel like Chilemba is only going to improve against Bellew, he's the better boxer.

Bellew should take the draw and move on to other opponents.

I think Chilemba is right... Bellew didn't do the job at home so should make the effort to make things right and go travel

The way Bellew kept shouting "I'm the home fighter" I wouldnt wanna fight him in the UK again either.

                Hello Mick,

                Is Chilemba a draw anywhere?

Liverpool is the only place where they'll make decent money.

no doubt chilemba won the fight, at times he outclassed bellew.
I liked bellew before this fight but after hearing his post fight interview i can't stand that ugly mug..
                  Chilemba was robbed

Sounds like I need to dig up video on this past fight.
