I am very surprised that no one has claimed Joe Louis to be a fraud or that his heavyweight record of title defenses was never challenged. After all that was written in this thread about champions fighting nobodies, like Jones, I find it surprising that Joe Louis' bum of the month club was never mentioned.
To the people outside of the ring, a fighter constantly putting himself in danger against only the top fighters in the world is a must. To those who have stepped into the professional ring fighting only the best is a great idea, however the damage that is sustained in such fights is irreversible and will be with that fighter for the rest of their lives.
In other sports waging war with the other top teams day in and day out is something that happens quite often. Your team steps up, plays the game and the next week that team will be out playing again against another team. Plain and simple, boxing is not like any other sport out there. If a top fighter steps into the ring with another top fighter and they have a war between them it is very possible that that fighter may be sidelined while recovering from the fight for a couple of months to 6 or 7 months while healing and recovering from the beating.
See, the thing with most of the people here is that they never really fought. They may have had an amatuer bout or two or maybe just stepped into a gym to have a go at sparring. With such limited first hand experience, there is no way that they can possibly comprehend the damage that you sustain in a professional bout. Until you experience the morning after a tough, tough fight you will never completely understand. The pain each time you roll over in bed from bruised ribs or a fractured colar bone. The tears inside of your mouth that will come alive with pain each time a morsel of food hits it. The swollen or sore jaw that will not allow you to open your mouth for bite to eat. The tenderness of your hands as they reduce in swelling allowing you to again pick up a fork or spoon. The list goes on and on after a tough fight. I dont neeed to remind you of the hidden dangers of brain injuries, do I?
Yes they are sometimes paid millions to fight the other top fighters and that is alot of money, I have no arguement with that. But what is that money worth if you are so damaged after your career from all of the tough fights that you took along the way. How great would it be to be considered the greatest fighter to ever lace up the gloves, yet your wars have left you unable to talk or to even feed yourself. You could be unable to do the simplest chore therefore you will need a nurse or somebody similar to take care of you.
Most people it seems on the site have a detached perspective. They dont know these people and they may even believe that the damage that they are viewing on the screen is not real, as is the rest of the television that they watch.
Some of the fighters listed could actually be considered frauds. But for the most part, you guys are ripping on true professionals who gave what they had when they had it to give. Most of the frauds that I have encountered are posts that I read on the net. A simple thread at the beginning turned into a hatred thread by people who really have no clue. Step in the ring and take a beating for a round or two or even a full fight. Then come into a public domain proclaiming that the former or current champions of the world are frauds. I have already stated who the real frauds are.
(Tha Greatest, you could be one of them if you dont back up your talk.)

I still have everyone beat. Mark Gastineau is the biggest fraud in boxing. Bar none. His wins were due to paying off fighters to take a dive. The fighters he lost to didn't want the money and beat his ass.
