Peterson isn't going to be forced into anything. he will willingly go to this guy and offer pressure of his own. Mythysse (no typo) isn't going to handle what Lamont brings as well as his ****riders seem to think he will. LP isn't a huge puncher but he hits hard enough to get respect.
Will Matthysse knock Peterson out?

I wouldn't say it's fair either but it's held to a higher standard because a lot of his fanbase literally think he would destroy anyone on the planet. So, going the distance with Peterson and subsequently the 3 best fighters he's faced will obviously leave reason for it.I do think he will stop him but if he doesn't I don't think its fair to say hes overrated based on that. Peterson is a tough, tough guy that hasn't really looked close to being stopped before.
I just can't picture Lamont winning, I don't feel he has the pop to keep Lucas off of him. I'm saying hes feather-fisted I just feel hes going to be forced into Lucas's fight. He has a good inside game but Lucas will land a lot of leather & those bodyshots are taking their tole on anybody.
If he doens't dominate Peterson but beats him fair and square or even in a razor close fight he'll still deserve credit and will certainly get it from me. Like I said, I like Matthysse. I think he's very good.
I think Lamont would definitely get some rounds, I think his gameplan, like the Khan fight, will be to box and I think he'll have some success but be dragged in a dog fight and will be happily to oblige. Which despite his inside game, will be favourable to Matthysse.
I think Peterson will go down early too, he's making a trend of that.Comment

peterson can definitely outbox someone. i think that he struggles with that strategy when the other guy is faster than him. he was trying to outbox khan in the first couple rounds but khan was too quick so he started to bring it and walk him down.
i love this fight, it can go in so many different directions. i said in an earlier post it will be peterson's inside vs matthysse's mid-range, but i think IF it does go to the outside, peterson will have the upper-hand. im hyped for this one!Comment

I warmed to Peterson after the Bradley fight where he showed a lot of heart but I felt Khan was robbed which put me off him somewhat (funny how we fans take it out on the victor) and the failed test was tipping point.
I'm not a big fan of Matthysse and I don't think he's anything special as a boxer (i.e. special on the May/Pac/Marq level) but a reason I'd like to see Matthysse win is that he was robbed twice already and doesn't get the commercial recognition that he probably deserves at this point.
Should be a good fight and imo the stoppage will come late (R11/12) rather than early if it comes at all.Comment

Peterson's general M.O. is to go in after a feeling-out period. he's gonna fight this guy, hard. Lucas is a mid-range guy, not an inside specialist. it's not as simple an equation as to say Peterson can only win if he's able to stay at long-range.Comment

That is more or less how I see it going.
Early knockdown and he'll box his way back into it and been drawn into a slugfest where he comes off second best and gets stopped probably on his feet late on.
This fight couldn't come soon enough.Comment
