Let me tell you something...

Judges scored Chavez/Whitaker a draw. Judges scored Whitaker/Ramirez 1 for Ramirez. One judge had Leonard winning nearly every single round against Hagler. Judges scored Leonard/Hearns 2 a draw. Fenech/Nelson a draw.....
Shall I go on?
There are a vocal few, very, very few in fact, that scored Duran/Leonard 1 for Leonard. Vocal because they love to feel rebellious going against the grain, which makes them feel smarter than they actually are.
No matter what fight, you'll get a few complete morons that just have to go against the grain, and they might actually delude themselves into thinking they are right.
There is a vocal minority that feel Ali won the first Frazier bout. Are they right? No, they're morons that can't score.
A bunch of vocal morons thought Cotto beat Mayweather. A few vocal ******s thought Cloud beat Hopkins. They can't score boxing. That's it. That's what it comes down to.
You can't score. They can't score.
Not a big deal.Comment

A fight can be close, but clear enough to not warrant confusion. Duran/Leonard I was reasonably close, because Duran gave away a couple of rounds but it is clear enough for an easy, simple consensus that only blind, bias knob would go against.
How many people think Morales/Pac 1 wasn't close? How many of those actually think Pac won? Unless they are rabid fans of Pac, I'm guessing none. Fights can be close, but leave absolutely no doubt as to the winner.Comment

Great point. A good example of that imo is Cotto vs Trout. Close fight, clear Trout win.A fight can be close, but clear enough to not warrant confusion. Exactly. Close fight on the cards, but it left no doubt at all as to the winner. However, I don't doubt there are some tools that just feel like they have to go the other way and say Cotto won.
There always is.Comment

I feel ashamed to post on a forum where people don't know how to behave. I am probably old enough to be your dad. That being said, did you watch the fight with the commentary? The commentators did not know who won the fight after the last round because it was so close. The judges saw it the same way I saw it: razor close. Furthermore, the reason why people run with the "Duran wrecked Leonard" story is because Leonard himself said that Duran hurt him during the fight pretty good and he had lots of injuries. Yeah, but that is because SRL never ****s with guys so he never got hit as much before in his career. In his book Leonard himself said after the fight he took a vacation and most people told him they scored it for him and Leonard also felt it was so close and if 2 judges had scored only 1 round differently, Leonard would have gotten the decision.Look, kid : I don't exactly have a plethora of scorecards and round-by-rounds breakdowns from fights that are over 30 years old lying around my house that I can just pull out of my ass anytime some 'tard on the internet challenges me on an internet boxing forum.
I do, however, recall Duran winning 4 of the first 5 rounds and 4 of the final 5 rounds rather convincingly - The only exceptions being the opening and closing rounds, which he clearly gave away. That right there makes 8 rounds by itself and that's not even counting rounds 9 and 10 which were also very convincing Duran rounds.
Point is : You're a complete **** knuckle for thinking that Ray Leonard did anything other than get his ass kicked in that fight.
So? For the record : One judge, Angelo Poletti, scored 10 of the 15 rounds even for ****'s sake. Besides, since when are boxing judges known for the competence in deciding bouts?
You further my assumption of you being a blockheaded **** who is dumber than a bag of hammers with such assertions.
In closing : You suck.
Learn to behave, I am here to talk boxing, not to insult people who have a different opinion.
Really? Well, that is the problem here. You just read the comment of some random dude and your opinion about a fight originates EXACTLY from that comment. Instead of from watching the actual fight. That is the biggest problem on boxing forums: most people don't even watch fights. They just come here to troll or have fun or whatever. You just listen to what a few other people say about a certain fight of the past, and if you like the idea and you think it's cool, then you run with it. Instead of actually REALLY watching the fight for yourself.Comment

by the way not that it really matters, but I remember ***** himself (the legend from the video trading block) said in a comment some time ago that he scored Leonard - Duran I for Leonard. And this guy HATES Leonard. So he would never score a fight for Leonard if he didn't really believe he won. I am just saying that cause ***** is a boxing historian who watched more fights than anybody I know. And I am saying that as a person who watched tons of fights myself over the last 20 years or so.Comment
