At these weights he will probably need to have a classic performance before he really get to that next level of popularity. The good thing is that he is a familiar face again after squandering the Montiel momentum...he has some great highlights to look back on, just not that back and forth classic that some of these divisions have produced over the years. He might have to continue moving up to find that fight, but the Rigo matchup should have that potential even though they both can be technical fighters. I look up at FW and not sure who he could fight, some durable guys with TR at that weight...this one could end up being a series
Should Nonito Donaire be the poster boy of boxing?

He should be if he's in higher division! Right now he hasn't overcame Pac status yet! Donaire was higher P4p right now, but he's fighting still the little guys, which to some mainstream boxing fans don't really have an interest!
Once he enters 126 and up his popularity will keep on rising.Comment

This is the guy that is using Conte too, right?I look around and while he has been given credit (top 10 p4p, the ring), he still isn't getting the credit he truely deserves. Look at the top banner for example.
This is a guy who is fighting 4 times a year against the very best challengers available, but.. he also takes random drug testing 24/7 365.
Is there a better poster boy for boxing than Donaire?Comment

Ward is there but fight once last year. Canelo is still not really there since he had fought guys not true 154 imo.Originally posted by -Kev-You say "Look at the top banner", but he is in the top banner? What is the problem?
Also, no.
I'd like it to be Canelo or Broner.
I'd really like it to be Ward but that is just not possible.

What do you mean by poster boy? Like THE face of boxing?
If that's the case Ill use the same argument I use when people ask if Donaire can replace Pacquiao. He's simply too late into his career and not popular enough. All hating aside, he COULD'VE been but he got the the higher weight divisions (and still not there) a little too late into his career. Sure he's the perfect guy, random testing all year round, skilled, athletic and provides the finishes people wanna see. Even tho we dunno how he's power is gonna translate into 126 and up. So far MOST of it still there but not the same IMO.Comment

So you want some guy who tries to live the thug life and has no personality (cause he steals Mayweather's) and is a racist (which falls into the whole Mayweather thing) to be the face of boxing?
