The fact of the matter is that boxing is no longer a sport but a showcase for certain fighters.
Out of all the divisions in boxing there is only 1, maybe 2 divisions in which anyone can say "this is the man in the division".
The top guys in the division are not fighting each other, they're not cleaning out divisions, and so only assumptions are made as to who is the best fighter of the division.
You no longer have to fight the fights, all you need are the sycophants, writers, and announcers to anoint a fighter the best of their class.
That's the equivalent of everyone crowning the Miami Heat as champions without going to the playoffs or finals. Maybe they are the best, but we won't until they actually play the games.Comment

Thurman needs to talk about HIS career and realize its about money not weight!! If a flyweight weighs in at 47 he's then a welter!! I don't know where all this weight BS comes from but its ****** its all about styles not weights!! The junior weight classes probably has something to do with it, I guess! Its just BS just got on the damn scale then ring the damn bell! Ray.Comment

Well, weight does have a lot to do with it. A flyweight can weigh at 147 but how good will he really be.Thurman needs to talk about HIS career and realize its about money not weight!! Thurman is talking about natural weight. Every fighter has a weight class in which they will perform at their best. Sometimes, for monetary reasons, fighters move up in weight and are not as strong or fast as they where in their previous weight class.
And in some cases, fighters pick these fighters because they know they'll have some sort of an advantage.
That is where the axiom, "a good big man will always beat a good small man". Or something like that. It is referring to if all things being equal, it is the bigger fighter who will have a distinct advantage.Comment

Thurman needs to examine his last fight against Zaveck before he calls anyone out. For someone whose called "One Time", Keith had plenty of times to put Zaveck down or to stun Zaveck but he didn't.Comment

GB picked Paulie up to feed him to one of their stars
Thurman doesn't make the cut
surprised they never made Paulie-Ortiz, thought that would be it
Ortiz copped a belt off Berto so they didn't have to
Broner is flavor of the month now so it's natural he gets the shot
Thurman just needs to keep winning and he'll get a shot
WW just doesn't have much going right nowComment

Why try and enforce a fight if you a not in a position to do so. Thurman in Paulie's words does not bring money to the table and is not even in a mandatory position.
Although he is the mandatory for Bradley, wonder why Thurman isn't calling him out.
If Thurman is desperate for a fight with Paulie why doesn't he arrange a fight with Chaves, Paulie's current mandatory.Comment
