Lucas isn't quite our 'hero'. That's the first thing. He is a guy who is an excellent fighter, who has got a very raw deal from the business of boxing. The recognition that he gets is almost entirely from hardcore boxing fans, the likes of which frequent a place like this.
Look at all his rivals at 140, Peterson, Khan, Garcia, Rios, all these guys have gotten several title shots and Matthysse never has, despite the fact that a majority of hardcore fans thinks he's better than all of them.
This is the discrepancy that leads people to talk him up. Unlike fighters whose hype outweighs their ability, Matthysse's ability far outweighs the hype. And don't make the mistake of thinking boxing nuts talking about him all the time equals hype, because it doesn't. If the opinions of hardcore boxing fans counted for much then the matchmaking in this sport would be a hell of a lot different.

But Matt's get's really hyped on this forum..Now he's starting to get it from the networks..He may deserve it,but to say he's not being a bit hyped is not being truthful..Dude has beat nobody of note, and has not KO'd not fighter of note..But yet you have several people and even Networks acting as if this is the most avoided guy in the sport..You earn fights by winning fights..Which(if you agree with it or not)Matt's has not done..

I can respect peoples opinions but round scoring is not opinion. There are clear rules as to how to score. If youu are a fan that prefers power or brawling to boxing and moving that's fine. But a hard hook to the arm doesn't count as much as a soft flush landing jab. If you score it the other way you are wrong based on the rules.
If you call what zab did running as many have fine, that's your opinion. But from a scoring perspective that running-unless its something on the odh/trinidad level-is not a negative when scoring by the officia criteria.

i had judah by a point. i wouldnt complain if it was scored a draw or even a matthysse win though, it was that close. matthysse wasnt robbed though, it could have gon either way and you cant let it get that close especially in your opponents backyard.

then he ko's dallas jr. and even he starts talking about how garcia might not want to fight him after that [i mean come on, really!!!]he's starting to believe his own hype train.as for other guys getting title shots you actually need to beat someone relevant first, now if he fights peterson and wins(which he won't) then he will get one.did you not just hear paulie this is "prize fighting " matthysse brings no money NO ONE IS DUCKING HIM.i get people on nsb like him because he comes forward and throws punches but there is more to BOXING. the hype train needs to calm down just like the golovkin train, good but not great fighters.
