GTFO. Quitting is stopping a fight because it's not going the way you like it, like Hopkins against Dawson, for example. Anyone with half a brain wouldn't label a fighter who has to make that choice a quitter and stigmatize them for it. Fight had to be stopped, it's not the damn Colosseum.

He quit! The ref didn't stop the fight, the fight didn't go all 12, he didn't get knocked out. No one was DQ'd. His corner didn't stop the fight either (IIRC)

He failed to go out and fight in the next round. He retired from the bout voluntarily, aka quit. Regardless of the circumstances.

Unfortunately for him he's not competing against NSB posters, but against fellow boxers many of which would have continued with a broken jaw. For example Abraham, Paulie, Mathebula, Jojo Dan.

Where was it ever stated that his jaw was broken in the 5th round? When was that proven? Because if it was, I honestly missed that news.

As for the question about my jaw : No, I've never suffered a broken jaw, but I fail to see how that negates my ability to comment on the events that transpire within the confines of a boxing ring.

Or are you trying to imply that people are only allowed to comment on things with which they have firsthand experience of? Because if so, that's exceedingly ****** logic, and you'd be disqualifying yourself from being able to comment on the vast majority of things you comment on in the lounge.

Nobody in this thread is giving him any **** for quitting in that fight. He just quit, most people agree with what he did.

You can quit a fight for more than one reason. You can quit because you don't think you deserve to get hit, you can quit because the opportunity came up and you didnt want to take another 8 rounds of punishment , or you can quit because you have a serious injury that potentially end your career.

I think the fact he quite for the Maidana fight, had a lot to do with why he got so much **** for quitting this fight. I think most of those fans that were on his case, understand now.
