Why does beating Andre Berto earn you a Mayweather fight?

It doesn't have anything to do with that, it's simple.....

When Ortiz beat Berto, who had been rumored as a Pacquiao opponent and seen as a Top WW, it launched Ortiz high up the rankings. He was the best fight for Floyd or Manny at that time aside from each other.

With Guerrero coming off two "decent" wins over Aydin and Berto, and with Marquez stopping Manny, who is there??? Guerrero is the next best WW not named Marquez, who Floyd already beat.

Both are solid, not huge fights, but solid fights against top ranked fighters at his weight. I swear he's the only fighter ever to get this much crap for fighting top ranked fighters at his weight.

When will people realize this?

The Margarito fight would have been a PPV fight, I imagine.

I can see the appeal in the Judah fight but why fight him coming off a loss when everyone wants to see you fight Margarito? People play it off now but it was a fight a lot of people wanted to see.

Let Judah get some wins. If it was supposed to happen, it will happen down the road.

Let's say Mayweather beat Oscar and Judah beat Cotto then imagine the numbers. That should have been the plan.

Floyd's last fight was at 154, so the argument that he can only fight a "welterweight" doesn't really wash.

If he fights at 154 next as is rumored, how does that argument look?

Of course it's decent. If any other fighter in the sport fought those fighters over that space of time it would be considered better than decent.

It's funny, when Mayweather returned he said he was looking to fight, Marquez (Already signed to fight him) Mosley, Cotto, Pacquaio and Ortiz and he was laughed out the building. No one would ever dream of him doing that.


Fast forward 3 years and he fights all but Pacquaio and it's considered not even decent Funny.

Then Austin Trout beats Cotto and he's considered to be a Top fighter now.

It's all just funny, to me.

ANy ideas why Mosley didn't fight floyd when floyd called him out in 05? Mosley was the bigger name then, he could've easily made the fight.
