Comments Thread For: Arum Says Chavez Jr. Fine Violates The U.S. Constitution

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum claims the fine imposed on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. by the Nevada State Athletic Commission - after the fighter tested positive for marijuana following his loss to Sergio “Maravilla” Marinez in a world title fight in Las Vegas last September - was “excessive.”

2nd failed test! Don't care what the 2nd time was for cause I'm smoking right now but this kid showed no respect for the sport and got off easy IMO. It seems cause he's the son of a legend he thinks he's above the rules

Wasn't big enough in my opinion. Biggest fight of his career. Fans making travel plans and filling the Thomas & Mack hoping to see two guys at their peak. Instead they got a Sergio who was out for blood and Jr. who had the munchies.
Should have taken his entire purse for the fight and banned him a year from the hearing for disrespecting the sport and cheating the paying public.

It's not as if adjusting for inflation would have made a stark difference . $100k in 2002 adjusted for inflation is only $128k today.
