Do you know how many people saw 50's and his fighters name on each article regarding Pacquaio's loss? For his first year as a promoter he's started out better than most i'd say.
You mean the one that is majorly linked to PED's? and people saw his name attached to that too! Didnt he get dropped in that fight also? Yeah im sure all promoters want that guy.

And then his number 2 guy Dib gets beat up on a FNF! Hes doing great

Having an am record doesnt mean that you spent your life watching every single fight that came on tv. You just started watching it foreal foreal, recently.
I also got the impression from his interviews that 50 knew little about boxing, the fighters or styles.

He either needs to go do his homework or bring in an advisor who does know the game.

In other words "sweet lemon." Namely 50 should shut up, listen and provide the capital for the venture and maybe learn a thing or two..... Problem being 50 thinks he is a lot smarter and just better than all that learning stuff! Like most useful idiots he got slapped down. i can just imagine 50 in a room full of people like Roger Mayweather...people that may sound silly but really know what's goin on....and these people must have been hopin and prayin that Floyd let this useful idiot go.

The real issue here is folks seem to be expecting this guy to come out of the gate as king midas of promoters because he has bank. The fact is he got Gamboa his biggest event of his career, when was the last time he was on a million dollar ppv selling undercard? The ped's stuff does suck, but how is that on the promoter the dates stated it was before 50 came along. Now i'm not saying he had a monster year i'm just saying his guys got him off to a decent start..yes dib lost but you think billy and gamboa are the only fighters 50 plans to promote? He's using established fighters to get his feet wet, he just signed some amatuer kid and I expect him to keep signing dudes. You can't be around hustlers and not pick up the game, in order to be in the game he needs his product whether amazing or mediocre it's a product..other than that there would be no reason for him to be in top rank meetings or meetings of any other sort in boxing. I say give the man time, three years would present enough of a window for a proper assessment of his success. Everyone can't be arum and promote an ali, mayweather, de la hoya, or pacquaio. How many boxers have gone through GBP? Dibella? Top Rank? that haven't turned to anything much..plenty.

I agree but he's side by side with Arum so expect him over time to figure it out a little better than he has. Arum gets his coming and going, so who better to learn from?

The ulta-gay rapping Peter Pan that got zero fan rection before a fight where his star was dropped by a bum was well worth Curtis embarrassing boxing.

He's not even a year in. Give him some time. I'm not saying he'll succeed but it's far too early to tell. The problem with 50 is he made a splash and now we have to wonder if he's willing to put his money where his mouth is and stick with this. This isn't like the regular investment for rich folks. It takes some work to be a promoter. But TBH I'd feel better if 50 had someone who is smart in business and promotion below him.

This was not the way he thought his entry into the world of boxing promoting would begin. Some predicted that the rapper would be making a power play in the Sweet Science. Instead there have been misunderstandings and missteps, stumbles and setbacks.

Last summer seems as if it was eons ago. Back then, it was thought that the performer otherwise known as Curtis Jackson would be pairing up with his good friend, boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather, to form an outfit called TMT Promotions. Jackson had received his promoter’s license in New York and had applied for one in Nevada (which he has since received). Mayweather was set to be released from a stint in jail. “The Money Team” was already recruiting.

For many fans and observers, speculation won out over waiting for specifics.

Mayweather and 50 Cent at some point had a falling out, their strained personal relationship putting aside any hope of a successful business relationship. Mayweather remains affiliated with Golden Boy Promotions. So, too, do many of powerbroker adviser Al Haymon’s other clients, who didn’t opt to leave one of the United States’ biggest boxing promoters in favor of an unproven company.

Instead, Jackson is at the helm of SMS Promotions, which is coincidentally only one letter away from “TMT” but is actually named after his “SMS Audio” headphones company. [Click Here To Read More]
I'm really surprised that you would get pleasure from Jackson's rocky road. He's new, with no boxing business eperience, he has to start small and start somewhere. As you say he has plenty of money and, let's hope he eventually becomes a factor. It does seem that he was let down by Mayweather, but he should have known that Mayweather was not reliable, and wouldn't be anybodys partner on an equal basis.

Actually they wrote letters to Floyd in jail telling him to get rid of Haymon. Once he did that, Floyd changed his mind. So lets not act like Floyd just left. 50 tried to stab Floyd's right hand man in the back, and Floyd couldnt have anything to do with him. You say Floyd isnt reliable? Well Haymon was able to rely on Floyd, because Floyd had Haymon's back over 50 who is shiesty as hell.

More people than I'd like to see are more concerned, it seems, about which promoter/manager does what with which fighter, than about getting to watch quality fights. I certainly expected more from a boxing forum, presumably populated by fans of the sport, not necessarily of its "celebrities".

Would you rather watch a good fight, regardless of "rank" or "stature," or second-guess the strategies of businessmen?

Speaking of Dib: So what if he lost? I'm sure it's tough for him to lose his title, but as a boxing fan, I enjoyed the fight, and didn't care about the background dealings. Dib now has a chance to learn from his mistakes, and improve for his next fight. It's better that his weaknesses be exposed sooner rather than later.

Would you much rather Dib be coddled, and protected from challenging fighters? If so, then what kind of champion is he?

Would you rather boxing promoters/managers keep their fighters away from Gradovich (who beat Dib, after short notice), or should Gradovich be allowed, fairly, to showcase his skills, and get a chance to win the belt because he deserves it?

It's shameful enough that boxing politics plays the role that it does, but when "fans" actually show sympathy or ill will not for the actual boxers, but for the people behind them, it's just...so, so sad....

Quit lying that fight was horrible due to the match up by his promoter! All they did was collide and hold. Not more than seven seconds of actions.
