How can pot be illegal in boxing?

How can it be, I mean weed slows you down, make your muscles relax. I know you will say it's illegal in law but boxing federations shouldn't disqualifie fighters for it. And don't think of me as a Chavez Jr. fan beacuse i'm not but it's just doesn't make sense. What's your opinion?

While I think weed should be legal, the fact remains it isn't, and boxing commissions would look bad if they gave a pass to fighters caught using anything illegal.

Do you see a slight diffrence beetwen pot effect and coke effect on people? I know it's illegal and if boxer smoked pot before fight the case should be passed to police but he shouldn't be disqualified beacuse this "PED" doesn't help him at all

Crack ain't helping you fight doesn't mean it shouldn't be a banned substance.

As for Weed they should just take it off. Im from Seattle where its legal since we are far more progressive then most of the rest of this ******ed country. :-)

While i dont think weed is performance enhancing and really shouldnt be on the ban list it is still an illegal drug and it is on the list.

Professional athletes should just be responsible and follow the rules. Thats it.

There is 3m on the line and you cant put the blunt down for 2 months? Come on man. My job has yearly drug tests and if i were to fail you know what happens to me? I get fired. I dont get suspended and docked 1/3 of my pay. So chavez should be happy that was all he got for breaking the rules.

Anything that affects a fighters judgement is correctly illegal, it could be used to cover other things up too.

They are professional fighters fighting for our entertainment.
Anything that can hamper their abilities or give them an unfair advantage should be punishable.

I have known a few boxers that liked to smoke weed before their workout, and said it made the whole thing easier. Especially doing their miles.

Well any drug that is illegal in general is banned in boxing , but maybe since it slows u down and makes u relax means you might take a beating, a fight isn't somewhere u wanna be relaxed.
