If you keep fighting and you're losing and getting knocked out your legacy should be tarnished.

I disagree. Nothing changes what he's already accomplished.

The man just loves to box, too much. It's lust.

No, but already the lasting memory of Jones for many is of him out cold, lying prone on the canvas with the doctor shining a torch into his lifeless eyes.

His legacy may be intact but his dignity is not

imagine if floyd loses 10 fights from now and finishes 43-10. obviously his legacy (and ATG standing) wouldn't be as good as if he had finished 43-0

That's held true for the most part. Especially on internet forums.

                Not quite reality however. IMO.

If Brian Nielsen finished his career 49-0 would he be greater than Sam Langford? Different things need to be taken into consideration. No matter how many times Jones loses now it won't change the fact he won titles at middle, super middle, light heavy and heavyweight. It won't change the fact he is probably the best ever at 168, top 10 at 175 and during his prime the most gifted fighter most of us have seen live. How does being a shot fighter now change these things? Ali isn't judged by his fights with Holmes and Berbick. Louis isn't judged by Marciano. Pryor isn't judged by his last fight. The list is endless. Some fighters go on to long, that's life. You don't judge greatness by who is is now, but by who he was during his prime.
