Who is the better boxer Mathysse or Peterson?

Why do people keep saying Peterson has power? Who has he ever dropped, hurt, stopped? The guy hit A mere con with everything but the kitchen sink and still couldn't put a dent in him. He hits about as hard as your average 13yr old girl.

Lucas does but people will say Peterson based on his ability to potshot absolute bums.


Lucas is really going to hurt this guy. Peterson is just a guy who is well rounded but he does nothing great, he is average all round.

He hurt Khan in almost every round after the 2nd? I don't think Khan would've jumped on his bicycle if he didn't hurt him. Yeah he never scored a kd but to say he hits as hard as a 13 year old girl is just ******. I don't think a 13 year old girl with 8oz gloves would have stopped Holt this last friday.

IMO Peterson and Matthysse both have good boxing fundamentals. Peterson has a better jab IMO, but Matthysse obviously has more power. People think that Lucas is really more of a brawler but the man can box. He's short for the weight class so he has to get inside to land his big shots. Peterson has the size and reach to stay on the outside and box but it he does better work when he gets inside lands his shots to the body.

I totally agree with you about Matt's..Dude knows how to get the upper hand on his opponents and trap them(even sometimes when they are not on the ropes)his foot and hand coordination is very(very good)..

But I think Peterson displayed some good boxing against Ortiz as well as Cayo..Peterson is a very physical fighter(Matt's better be ready for this)who will clinch to bring you into him,then start to work to the head and body like nobody's business..He did this against Holt and Cayo..With Ortiz(because of Ortiz weight)he had to use movement and a steady jab..Clinch when Ortiz got close because he's nothing more then a bull rusher(which is how he scored both the KD's in the fight)..But he adapted and altered his style and fought going backwards..TBH Peterson should use this style more often(esp against Matt's)but Peterson has a boxers approach and a brawlers mentality..Which is why he is very exciting,and usually in good back and forth kinda fights...

But I see them as even,with a slight edge in the boxing ability department..

peterson is obviously the more skillful fighter and better boxer. matthysses boxing ability is average at best, hes a fundamentally sound guy but very basic. he really lives off his power and chin.

peterson is equally fundamentally sound with a wider arsenal and far more advanced skills.

Exactly. People think Peterson's going to bring some new wrinkle to his game. He is what he is at this point, and I don't see that being good enough, or strong enough to beat Matthysse.

True, Peterson just seems a little sloppy at times the way he walks in and even off his back foot. He does have an awesome Jab and coulda beat Khan on it alone IMO, but its like his body reacts a split second ahead of his brain.

"He's black" so he has a wider arsenal. you mean his sweeping right and left hooks tot he body that you can telegraph from a mile away?

His looping shots to the head that work when the opponent has his face covered?
