Originally posted by BIGPOPPAPUMP View PostAccording to sources in Mexico, there are serious issues with the lightweight unification between Ricky Burns (35-2, 10KOs) and Miguel Vazquez (33-3, 13KOs), scheduled to headline a very big show on March 16th at Wembley Arena in London. Reportedly Vazquez and his management never agreed to the financial terms of the fight. One source told BoxingScene.com that Vazquez's management had requested a certain purse figure for their boxer to travel over and fight Burns in the UK, but that number has yet to be met. With the date being less than a month away, some of the involved parties in Mexico believe the fight will fall apart.

bs!!
i hate when fight to clarify divisions are thrown out the window (hope this is not the case here) because of money... you figure.. boxers can make a decent amount of cash.. if the networks/organizations would go to a monetary system.. i.e. champs are worth most.. #1 contenders are worth second most.. that way there's no dodging and if boxers want to get paid.. they'd fight up the scale.. as opposed to some PPV fighters fighting nobodies.. or old past prime fighters for huge paydays because of what they ONCE were... i think and hope most agree here, if it were based on skills Vasquez would deserve the lion's share of the pie.. but since burns has more fans, he feels like he can dictate terms.. that's why you have fighters like Berto getting paid millions forever before ortiz exposed him.. and guerrero proved he was overrated.. if HBO would of forced him to face tougher opposition he would of saved them a lot of cash.. ha ha..
And then you have fighters like my boy marquez who (withouth all 4 manny fights) was beating everyone a champ and not getting paid for traveling and beating everyone they placed infront of him..
Canelo is another fighter who's right now sitting at the top for beating hatton/lopez/baldo/mosely/rhodes/gomez/cintron.. that in no way shape or form looks like someone who deserves millions.. granted he WAS suppose to fight williams/kirkland and ortiz.. but that dont count..
Maravilla martinez to me is getting the recognition a little too late in his career out there.. taken the tough road to the top.. but now that he' at the top he has become a little bit of a picker.. but at his age you cant blame him..
Now HBO, with this mayrunner deal, is forced to look for another face of hbo.. and guess who's getting the easy road to the top.. this little broner guy.. so expect a little cherrypicking.. maybe canelo.. make him fight kanh!! i'd see that!

I doubt this very much but did GBP maybe offer Vazquez more money to fight Broner on May 4th? Vazquez is Mexican after all. If not tell Broner to step up and fight Vazquez on May 4th.

This is how frank warren (Burns promoter) operates, he would claim the fight is sealed and basically use that opportunity to sell tickets and he would then accuse the other side of asking for too much money, the show/event would go ahead with a mediocre replacement already training and ready, he did that throughout Ricky Hatton career, instead of Sharmba Mitchell we got Stewart the joke etc
