Price is a nice guy and IMO he is best to stay away from Wlad. He is a good fighter, but getting in the ring with Wlad is a MASSIVE step up..... no need to rush it... but if they want it... im sure wlad will be happy to take on another undefeated fighter

I think if everyone thought carefully this is the obvious conclusion....I certainly agree with this. Lets consider:
Forget if heavy weights are better or not....This division as "slow hand" says, is full of people that will not fight each other.
This division has a bunch of guys who are not confident or ready to develop the skills to fight at the top level. For example, a guy like Areola is skilled, a decent fighter who lost but was not really outclassed by Klitschko (we can argue that later)....Yet NONE of these young lions are in his face! And most of the other guys up and coming don't want any part of him.
This is the worse division because we have no guys with the skills, slickness and experience to challenge the guys with natural talent who are ready to grab the brass ring because.....guys like Potevkin and Price
are afraid to go for it....Whats the worse that could happen?
Compare this to the eighties when you had bunches of guys like Witherspoon with experience talent and ambition ready to take the mantle.
Finally in terms of actual ability there is no proof that a man need be bigger than 220-230 to be a boni fide heavyweight. There is no established formula that shows that a bigger man at this cutoff will persevere against a smaller man. The truth is that bigger men move better now, but so what? Lewis was a great fighter but it was not necessarily because of his size...Lewis was a very skilled fighter who was much better defensively than people think and is main contenders were often not fellow big men.....His toughest fight was against skilled small men with the exception of Klitschko.
So whether because of inactivity, a lack of balls/bottleneck, or ability anyway you slice it, whether the Klitschkos are great or average (as I believe) this is a weak division.Comment

Why? whats the worst that can happen? Price is no spring chicken....If he gets in the ring now and has as his goal to be competative he will accomplish the following:
a) If he gets blown away everyone else in the pack will want a piece of him, so he becomes a gatekeeper with steady fights.
b) If he is competative he can actually get another klitscko fight down the line, correct his seasoning (as we say in the kitchen) and maybe win next time.
c) of he wins he wins.
Did losing to Klitschko screw up Areola's prospects?Comment

pretty much agree with that apart from the Price comment. He's an up and comer so not really in a position to challenge yet. couple of decent fights then he will be. Unlike the other weights HWs peak 30-35 I think so at 28/29 he's at the right age to be still picking his fights carefullyI think if everyone thought carefully this is the obvious conclusion....I certainly agree with this. i wish every weight class had a super 6. I know its a pipe dream but on January 1st of each year the top 6 fighters in each division should be matched to fight 3 of the other top 6 fighters. then the next year the bottom 3 drop out and the 3 next highest ranked ranked joinComment

Pipe dream maybe but wouldn't it be grand to have these guys all locked into doing an elimination?pretty much agree with that apart from the Price comment. I respect your opinion on Price. The question is how much more seasoning he can get without getting in there. In the old days fighters came up and by the time they started fighting for real prize they had skills, now a days? not so much.....You can certainly point to a guy like Michael Grant to make your point though....He was indeed destroyed by Lewis by getting in the ring with someone he did not belong in the ring with.Comment

after the Thompson fight Price needs to be getting ambitious and test himself with a serious HW. the question is who though?Pipe dream maybe but wouldn't it be grand to have these guys all locked into doing an elimination?

Price looks like an owl on roids. He's like an even bigger and more mechanical version of wlad. Just more ugly and with no boxing skills.Comment

I think Price is probably the best up-and-coming heavyweight, I'm just hoping he's a bit more active this year. Five fights this year would be good, since he's beating his opponents so easily, and then a title shot in 2014.
Most boxers who turned pro when Price did have at least 20 fights by now.
He had a long amateur career, and he's not getting any younger at age 29.Comment
