Promoters are too slow to make heavyweight fights

The biggest problem the heavyweight division has is fighters' inactivity and a lack of meaningful fights between contenders.

There are three good ones coming up (Glazkov vs. Scott, Price vs. Thompson and Abdusalamov vs. Bisbal) but not much else.

Kubrat Pulev was supposed to fight Tomasz Adamek but they haven't even started negotiations yet, according to Dan Rafael. Mike Perez has seemed to disappear. Robert Helenius was supposed to be fighting Michael Sprott on March 2, but that's been delayed and may not happen at all. Denis Boytsov and Odlanier Solis have promotional problems that are ruining their careers. Sam Peter is in Don King-imposed limbo. Ruslan Chagaev doesn't seem to want to fight anymore. David Haye refuses to fight anyone not named Vitali Klitschko, but it looks like Vitali is retiring. Luis Ortiz has been wasting his prime fighting low-level opposition, as have Joe Hanks, Carlos Takam and Andrzej Wawrzyk.

We need the promoters and managers to make some meaningful matchups.

But usually the fighters want to fight and are willing to take on the biggest challenges (as is the case with Solis and Boytsov).

The problem seems to be with the promoters/managers.

The TS should take matters into his own hands and.....

          start promoting heavyweight fights...

I agree with everything you say; seems like promoters (esp in hw division) do counter intuitive things e.g. keep your fighter inactive. I'll even throw this one out: Richard Schafer should have got a replacement opponent for Seth Mitchell instead of sidelining his fighter until the Banks fight is back on. It's like the promoters are just way too risk adverse and would rather have their fighter not fight when in fact it's a total disservice and reinforces the "ring rust."

I've exchanged emails with Deontay Wilder's manager Jay Deas and he told me that pitched to Showtime an American hw version of the Super 6 Tournament. If there was ever a division that could benefit from one these kinds of tournaments it would be the hw division. The closest thing we have to the Super 6 is the Prizefighter tournament that takes place annually.

I've been so far out of the loop when it comes to heavyweights because of this reason. There was a time I completely stopped following the division for a good year or two.

There's a few HW fighters you might like coming up now: Bryant Jennings, Deontay Wilder and Joe Hanks.

Most of the top 25 heavyweights have no fight scheduled.

                  Bryant Jennings
                  Kubrat Pulev
                  Alexander Povetkin
                  Tomasz Adamek
                  Deontay Wilder
                  Denis Boytsov
                  Ruslan Chagaev

What are all these guys up to?

I don't know how much it will help (if any) but fans need to call out these promoters. I should've emailed Richard Schafer asking him why they didn't get a replacement for the injured Jonathon Banks. Mitchell was ready to fight so they should've got an opponent for him and kept him busy. Now he's sidelined again waiting for Banks' thumb injury to heal and for the fight to be rescheduled. It's ****ing asinine...

Also, I've emailed Deontay Wilder's manager Jay Deas, numerous times criticizing the opposition their putting in front of their fighter.
