nah, i dont agree, decent odds, nothing more. i think most of the boxing world knew it was a dagerous fight for cotto to take tho, many were perplexed he took it. odds aside, i wasnt shocked he lost and i didnt hear much shock either.

no, thats not the point either. the point is none of the fights are that great. ur trying to find a great or even good fight in the bunch and it doesnt make sense to me. no1 100 years from now will note a win over austin trout on floyds resume. same with the other names being thrown around. they are all decent fights, nothing more, nothin less. i dont get the silly bickering over these guys. none of them are anything special.

alexander has a deeper resume. he's won against and lost to top fighters for a while now. even though he's two years younger than trout, he's a much more veteran fighter.

trout has one big win. miguel cotto is an eventual hall of famer. he's not in his prime, or at his best weight, but he was still a better win than any single win on alexander's resume. alexander's two best wins are probably urango and maidana. kotelnik was too close (i remember kotelnyk doing very well, but i haven't seen that fight in years now,) and he blatantly lost to matthysse
I thought the Kotelnik fight was a clearer loss than Matthysee.

          Both very clear loss's though.

ya alot of that came from the mentally devastating lose he just had against floyd was it not?

Fair points. I'd argue everyone except Urango was equal or better at the time. I just know I picked Trout and thought Miguel made a huge mistake. Trout IMO was selcted by Team cotto for the fight because he looked like crap the fight before on SHowtime.

After the floyd fight, how anyone could think Miguel could beat a man larger than he with a longer reach that can box and move is crazy.

lol...mentally devastated? lets not go that far. a guy who was mentally devastated does not pick a tough fight like trout without a tune up.

true but that was popularity, like Manny/ODH. Unless you had a horse in the race, it seemed clear (at least to big dunn) the underdog was going to win.

I've never bashed Floyd for fighting Cotto. As I've clearly stated Floyd won't choose the dangerous fight. (Present tense). As in right now. Larry is making stuff up as usual. Go & review his words, choices & rationales throughout the tread. I'm talking moving ahead he's discussing past tenses.

Therefore you cannot understand him Lorily. Because what he's saying is totally a lie & off the topic, base & point entirely.

I challenge Larry to go find any post I've made at any time where I bashed Floyd/Cotto. The only problem I've ever had with that fight was when posters claimed Floyd dominated Cotto. In fact that's the same problem I had with the Trout/Cotto fight. Both were highly competitive.

As for Martinez, your point has little to no validity. You argue that floyd should fight Martinez for the challenge, but unless the fight is at 160, we have no idea how Martinez would perform at 154, 152 or 150. So

Its ****ing pro boxing. its a job. you do this to get paid. you don't like floyd much and you hate the fact that he worked his way to the top. AT this point in his career he makes the same fights that any other 36 yr old makes. How many guys are making the most challenging fights at this age. who? GET OVER IT ALREADY!!!!!!

NO pro boxer fights for challeneg they fight for money. Sometimes the most \challenging fights provide the most income, sometimes they don't. If you don't like this go watch amatuer boxing and stop your incessant whining.
You bring up the Ghost defensively like you're trying to defend that fight. News flash idiot, I support that fight.

Floyd doesn't need to fight Martinez at 150, or 152. And you're right we, including yourself have no idea how Martinez would perform at 154. That's not Floyd's problem. The backlash he's recieving now wouldn't be there though.

No top fighter really goes afte challenges anymore. Martinez himself stopped long ago. I understand that & stand tall & admit it. You however constantly make up excuses as to why it's ok when Floyd does it. You don't understand the context if this tread & are in fact crying more defending Floyd than I am calling a spade a spade.

Look at the front page of nsb. It's all criticizing Alexander, the Ghost, even ginger. That's what we all do criticize everyone slated or rumored in relation to the man, while he ignores the fighters that can end the criticism.

BTW no matter who Floyd fights, from ginger to Trout, he's making bank.
