    Here's what I don't get.

Guererro is more marketable (especially with his wife's backstory), a true underdog/hero story. What does Devon have? "My eye truley WAS burning in the Bradley fight!"

It's on a Mexican weekend. Guererro is Mexican-American. Alexander is American.

Guererro is ranked #3 at WW and #10 P4P (By the Ring). Alexander is WW #10 and unranked P4P

Guererro is more exciting. Alexander is very boring.

He's coming off a huge win as an underdog in an entertaining fight. Alexander is coming off one of the most boring fights ever as a heavy favourite.

Why would you fight him over Guererro?

Only thing Alexander has over him is he is a belt holder.

I will watch all of Floyd's fights because he is a legend and he doesn't have much time left in the sport probably. Gotta enjoy him while he's still around.

But is Devon Alexander someone that I will get fired up and excited to see him in the ring with? Hell no.

Don't you guys know? Floyd already said that Devon was the future of the sport and would carry it after he retires. I forecast Floyd takes a dive against Devon and retires after this fight to avoid fighting Canelo.

What was Ortiz then? There is no defending this fight.

And didn't Floyd say "belts only collect dust"?

Can't disagree with any of those points bro.

As I said, I'm struggling to understand the concept behind this move.

Devon is a southpaw remember, can any of you guys notice a top ten Welterweight southpaw?

No because this is a tuneup fight for Pacquiao.its the only logical explanation

It makes no sense on any level. I can't see any upside to chosing Alexander over Guerrero. If name recognition didn't matter, why not give Trout a chance? Another Haymon client.

If I were advising him the next opponent would be Robert! The perfect southpaw to get him ready for Pacman! Both lead with their face, both throw alot of punches and both move forward! Gear up for some hard training and a 10 month period to act like a REAL champion! Then beat them both and retire! Both are legit opponents who get in top condition and come to the ring to win! Ray.

                      Good post.

I think it's just doing favors for Haymon. Get Alexanders name out there even though he's not an actual realistic opponent.

Either that or they want to do some kind of in house Haymon fight. But i lean towards the former.
Guerrero is a very easy fight for Floyd and one that he can take without losing fans and getting grilled by media.
