On Saturday night, inside of the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, I spent some time backstage with Five-time Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach prior to his fighter Frankie Gomez’s bout with Lanard Lane.

Still a few hours away from Gomez’s match, Roach and I briefly discussed another pugilist he was recently seen working with in former welterweight champion Victor Ortiz.

Having suffered an upset loss to Josesito Lopez in June, Ortiz would part ways with his then-trainer Danny Garcia shortly after the setback.

Temporarily sidelined because of a second surgery for a broken jaw he suffered in his bout with Lopez, Ortiz is still finding time to stay in shape and was spotted working with Roach inside of his Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles late last month.

Victor Ortiz comes across to me, as the biggest idiot in boxing.

But, I have to admit, his trainer maybe one of the worst when you consider he had Ortiz boxing with Mayweather rather getting as close as possible to brawl. Yea, Ortiz is going to box with Mayweather. Ridiculous.

Victoria working with Roach will have him getting laid out just lik Pacroid. I wish people could see that Freddie is just in the corner. He's not giving any of these guys a plan to win the fight, but if Victoria wants to be on the next knock of the year poster then Freddie is the guy to train him. Just ask his star pupil Manny " me just woke up" Pacroid.....

Man, I'm no fan of Freddie Roach, but somebody needs to save Victor from making any more commercials.

Victor's primary asset as a fighter is his power. He does his best work coming forward and believing in his power. Freddie Roach is an offensive coach, it would be a solid marriage. Victor will never be a hall of fame fighter, but if he wants to make the most out of his career I think this is a good way to do it.
