And how many of those times was it one clean hard shot that badly hurt him?

    You tell me.

Even when Jones got whooped by Calzaghe he said something like them slaps had more pop to them.

Eubank was never hurt by Calzaghe. look at his reaction in both instances you're referring to.

your strawman arguments -- such as, "hey neither guy was ever ko'd right? that's the only criteria it seems so yeah iron chin for sure." -- are very devilish, too.

well how do you define a great chin? if eubank has a great chin than surely marquez does as well. marquez fought the better competition and although he has been dropped several times he has never been ko'd. same as eubank. pointing out individual punches that didn't ko eubank is futile. i could point to individual punches that didn't ko marquez or even individual punches that didn't ko glass chinned khan. not every punch is going to ko a fighter. a more accurate way of seeing things is to look at the whole picture. eubank was dropped many times against good competition but had a good enough chin to not get ko'd. if he had fought better competition the odds say he would have been dropped and hurt a lot more, but he fought a lot of bums which is probably good for his health and good for his chin rating.

a feather would shake jones up at that point in his career. calzaghe couldn't do anything to jones. feather>calzaghe

your chin is only bad if you get hurt by 1 punch? if you get hurt by 2 you are a badass?

and to answer your question a lot i just watched the first benn-eubank fight and the second watson-eubank fight. he was being staggered left and right by single punches. he would recover and then get staggered again. let's just say he's lucky he fought so many bums instead of good fighters. at the rate he was getting dropped he would have set the record of "most dropped fighter ever"

sigh. i do think Marquez has a great chin, seeing as you mention it. powers of recovery have to be factored somewhere into assessment of a man's punch-resistance - and, while Marquez has been knocked down heavily and dazed (as opposed to suffering mostly balance knockdowns), including by a lesser opponent than Benn/Calzaghe/Collins/Watson in Katsidis, his recovery powers have shown to be extraordinary.

but that's not really relevant, as my argument for Eubank's chin was never as crass or simple as, 'he never got KO'd so his chin must be iron'. i gave you much more than that, none of which was addressed.

you win, though, man. i'm going to try to find a place to see the JuanMa fight.

                No, not really.

But if you have a bad chin then you're going to get hurt or dropped by single shots often.

Did you have an example, or?

no one wins when they are on boxingscene. we all lose.

all of eubanks knockdowns weren't balanced related. you gave me single punches that eubank took. should i cut out single punches that marquez took? or that khan took? that doesn't cover an entire career or tell the whole story of someones chin. throughout eubank's entire career he didn't demonstrate a great chin especially since his competition was pretty sub par. in the most important fights he was dropped and hurt. his chin is between khan's and sven ottke's.

I was at the first Eubank-Benn fight. Not far from where I live.

                      I guess not then.
