Comments Thread For: Donaire vs. Mares: Full Contract Details Are Revealed

It might be assumed that Donaire doesn't read the contracts all the way through. It might be assumed that he has his lawyer read them and advise him as to their contents which are important and relevant to him. So it might be assumed that his lawyer did so, and pointed out to Donaire 20 or 30 of the most damaging aspects for him, of the contract. And Mares is saying he would have fought in April. Did Top Rank go back and say lets work out a few small details and finalize this? No. Donaire lied and said they never received a contract. He was never even shown it. Yet Arum said they did receive one. You are a joke.
What difference does it make whether Donaire said "a letter" a note" a "contract", "a document" or "a few sheets" or what.
This is just another "round" in the PR crap that promoters throw out to "score points" and for the edification of the simple fans who love to be titillated and feel "on the inside" of these great goings on.
The real importance is in "the details" which we will never see, and "the signatures" which are not on the contract. The contract was with TOP RANK, not with Donaire, and do you really think that any self-respecting idiot (even a lawyer-idiot, I've known some) would advise his client to sign a ready-made, legally binding contract constructed by his bitter rival, which would tie him hand-and-foot for ever, as this contract would have done?? Especially a client who was a Harvard Law School Summa Cum Laude....??
In post #102 i believe I dealt with the points on which I wanted to coment .Comment

Care to explain? According to certain Donaire fans Mares is better than Rigo, has accomplished more and brings in more money. As a matter of facts, ins't that the reason why he wouldn't fight Rigo? Cause he hasn't done enough, doesn't bring money and is a nobody but an amateur?Comment

Actually none of it matters one bit. What difference does it make if he "saw" the contract or, most likely had whoever scrutinizes contracts for him, read it and give him an opinion. I believe that the contract is directly for Top Rank, and for Donaire only indirectly, according to whatever agreement Top Rank has with Donaire for his services. It need never have gone to Donaire at all, and he may be quite right in saying that he never received it.
For all we know Donaire's contract with Top Rank might rule that Top Rank can't "lease him out". None of us knows all this frenzied chatter is just guys having fun.... -as long as it isn't taken too seriously.
And what difference does it make anyway, none of them is attesting under oath, and the whole "sport" is 70% PR and promotion.Comment

according to Steve Kim of Max Boxing:
IMO, Top Rank should send back their objections and begin a real dialogue to make #DonaireMares but a 3rd party promoter flat out said they wouldnt sign that deal
So Donaire has a point to be made.Comment
