That's what Donaire fans have been saying, cause they know the truth. They know Rigo already beat Mares convincingly in the amateurs. They know that Mares is a dumb fighter who moves forward and eats punches and it will be another highlight reel knockout.

Donaire knows this as well. On twitter Donaire posted on Mares' wall "@abnermares00 easy work considering he went 12 with Darchinyan". Donaire knows what's up, and realizes what would happen in this fight, he would knock out Mares in 6-8 rounds and make huge money. He won't be able to do that with Rigo, who can actually beat him.

They will also pay for hotel room and board (5 days but no room service) for one (1) suite and five (5) additional rooms, daily per diem ($50.00 per day), seven (7) flights to Vegas (2-first class and 5-coach) from anywhere in the country.

GBP will take out any and all taxes that are to be paid to the government, state, etc. prior to handing the money over to TR (either by check after the fight or wire transfer the next day).

GBP takes ALL the gate money, ALL the televised profits from anywhere in the world. GBP reserves the right to take 100% of ALL additional revenue for a period of one (1) year after the fight is over. After a year TR and GBP can meet to decide an equitable split on revenue after that.

TR must pay all of the sanctioning fees for Donaire and pay for his own drug testing.

The funniest thing was the contract said that the information would not be disclosed to any third party. I guess because it was not actually executed, the terms and provisions aren't substantiated.

It all comes down to how much Arum would be able to make having Donaire face another TR fighter.
Very Well put, and brings up some of the points I was querying. I bdelieve that both Donaire and Top Rank will make far more for the expected Rigondeaux fight, and this this showing the "contract' was just a juvenile points scoring PR exercise that Golden Balls seems to love. Not a serious business thing at all, and we certainly know that boxing, the modern form of arena gladiators, is serious for those most involved.

So Donaire has a point to be made.
wow a contract tht isnt perfect?! Good thing TR looked over and revised it...oh wait.

Thought you didnt care about either one but you are going in pretty hard for TR side. Even calling GBP golden balls and claiming Nonito will make more money but earlier saying no one will know how much he made but for rehecting this fight we will find out. Which is it?

          • Mares is a much tougher fight than Rigo. As of right now. Who knows, Rigo might end up the kingpin but he's not right now.

With that said, I'm fine with either as long as both happens.

            • Bottom line: who tried harder to make this fight happen? GBP or TR?

Even if there are issues with this contract why didn't Top Rank respond with a better counteroffer? Instead all we heard about them is that they were lowballing Golden Boy in trying to get Mares' services.

You do make a few points, but I've referred to Oscar's company this way for years, ever since I decided he was an opportunistic, greedy, self-admitted money-hungry apprentice tycoon. This was when the Oscar's Manny Pacquiao signing took place and the underhanded revelations afterwards.

It reminded me of the way that Don King stole away Hasim Rahman from Cedric Kushner just after Kushner had guided Rahman to the title with the Lewis fight. It was so much of a swindle that there was a 2 hour TV special about it.

I like his boxing, and have no feelings about him either way other than what I've just said. I don't know him.

As for Arum and Top Rank I don't know him either, but I do know that he and his wife feature VERY prominently on a few charity lists that I've actually seen, and what he did for years, without any fanfare, for Carlos Hernandez and his family deserves the height of respect. We never hear anything about this and he doesn't advertise it.

As for Donaire and Arum "making more money" it's just my considered opinion.

How about that bribing charge he caught with the IBF a few years back?
