As for the best single punch ever landed...hmmm....Chris Byrd landed a jab against Jeff Pegues in the 2nd round of their war was incredible-if you havent seen it I suggest you do so-a GIF of this perfectly placed shot will certainly breed some BYRDBELIEVERS!

yeah tyson jus got dominated i hate to say it.

totally agreed, I watched a special on this "phantom punch" and no liston did not take a dive. That punch was a very underrrated punch.

The punch, IMO, was sharp & fast enough to drop a Liston who was not ready for it.
But, I don't think it was enough to keep him down.

The knockdown was legitimate. The knockout, was not.

It did not look like it hit the liver, & even when you see a clean liver shot KO....the fist sinks into the body far more than that ARM-PUNCH did.

I have seen numerous guys take left hooks into the liver....shots that shifted their entire rib cage over.....& NONE have ever rolled around in such distress as Oscar was putting out that evening. That punch BOUNCED off of Oscar's side.

good point but why would Oscar take the dive? he's the golden boy not B-Hop. hell most of Oscars fans never even heard of B-hop until that fight. and besides HBO was most likely going to give DLH the gift.

Not a "dive". A "dive" means there was a payoff involved.
I think Oscar was starting to feel the heat, & took the opportunity to get out before the real pain came his way.
I think he was satisfied with his performance to that point, & saw that it would be a futile effort to try & win.

The straight right hand that Alexis Arguello almost decapitated Aaron Pryor with in the 13th round of their first fight.

Both guys were exhausted and battered...somehoe Pryor ate that punch and kept on coming. That shot would have taken out A LOT of fighters throughout history.

Barry Thompkins was getting really excited when Arguello landed a punch...just noticed that.

"I don't see how anyone could be taking those punches Ray"

Ray Leonard -- "I'm glad I retired" hah that was a funny line.

Ahhhhh, yes.....that was a beauty. I don't think you can throw a punch any straighter than did Arguello, with that one.
Pryor had his hands down & Arguello shot that dart right into his mug...jolted his head in, & back.
Pryor should have been unconscious !
