I got no problem with a guy who sacrificed to "make weight" for as many years as Duran did enjoying a burrito or twelve!

this stuff with him saying "he had diarrhea" is false, IMO. it could be true, but personally i doubt it.

IMO, duran was so frustrated that he was being so easily outboxed and humiliated that he had enough.

some guys just cant deal with humiliation and frustration.

If Leonard hadn't been so full of pride and fought Duran's fight the first time, there wouldn't have been any reason for the second fight IMO. Duran was like any skilled pressure fighter, he wanted his opponents to stand in front of him and get hit, especially as his weight went up. He may have had stomach problems, but I think the biggest reason he quit is because he couldn't really get close to Leonard for any length of time in the second fight. You can see him on the tape yelling "Fight!, Fight!" after the ref waves it off, to me it looked like he was just mad as hell because he couldn't hit Leonard. My two cents.

** If Leonard had just ducked Duran, he wouldn't have been beat up the first fight. Duran almost KOed Leonard in the 2nd round, he put him on ***** street. Leonard had no choice but to fight to survive, the same choice Hearns had to fight to try to survive Hagler. You boys seem to underestimate how powerful, skilled, and, more importantly, motivated Hagler and Duran were for those fights. Leonard and Hearns got to play the weak sisters. Boxing 101.

He did have stomach cramps, because of the punishment to the body.
he said so, in the post fight interview, where he also announced his retirement and said he was never going to fight leonard again.

It's that simple. Ray frustrated Duran with speed and just a great display of Ray in his prime. Duran couldn't get to him like the first fight and he just said screw it...well...no mas...but Duran was embarrasssed and frustrated. Credit to Angelo Dundee also for devising ,yet again, a great stategy.
