He's already the 2nd greatest active fighter as far as I'm concerned, just ko'd his arch rival. Got payed handsomely to do it. And should be primed to ride off into the sunset. I think he's done alright for himself.

And we all know it's very arguable to have Marquez winning the first three.

you mean if the corrupt ref hadn't taken points for borderline shots? he was never going to win no matter what and john knew it. that's why john basically did nothing the entire fight besides not get knocked out. the old sven ottke game plan. it worked! world champ for the next ten years!

You feel so bad for the millionaire warrior who has been able to entertain the fans for 2 decades? Robberies and controversial decisions are the nature of boxing when the scoring system itself is in many ways judgemental. People make too big deal about p4p at the end of the days its the fighters names on your resume that speak to the accomplishments of the man not his time on the mythical p4p ranking.

I would agree, as a Filipino, I practically fell in love with Marquez after the KO. Most of my family/friends(those that are Filipino) only love boxing when it's instant action like Manny brings. I loved that Manny got KOd by a great counter.

Made this thread because I got so interested in Marquez being the only guy to give Manny such hard fights, so I went to score his other losses, you don't understand what all the parties for Manny's fights were like having him win over and over, oh man but those all got overshadowed.. I live in a highly populated community of Filipinos and the fireworks in my area 1 minute after Manny got KOd were amazing to hear.

Why feel bad? He is regarded as one of the best active fighters today. The losses are irrelevant no one cares or cares about what the guy he was dq'd against is doing or even about John still being officially unbeaten still and defending his title against bums in random obscure countries.

moreover , if you don't count his loss to Mayweather for whatever reasons ( some exists of course ) , so he is the GOAT hahahaha

Marquez is someone who built his legacy with his imaginary 3 wins over Pacquaio , like Norton vs Ali case
I really like Marquez , he is good boxer , I like his boxing style , his fights with Pacquiao are the best , his 1st/2nd fights are on of the best I have ever watched
but those who like Mayweather ( I don't know why ) , and continue to bloat Marquez up for his competitive fights with pacquiao are really pathetic .

as much as I hated on Chavez Jr. , Now I have alot of respect for him when I think about the likes of fake champion Mayweather .

I am not a fan of either Mayweather or Pacquiao , but every man with 2 eyes and a brain in his head can clearly see that Pacquiao is the man ** compared to Mayweather ))

if he would've gotten the nod in some of those fights he would be a

3 time lineal champ in
5 weight divisions with only 1 real lose where he wasn't at his best. with around 14 titles

but that's not how things work. I don't feel too bad. The guy has a big ass house Is worth millions, is considered a HOF and ATG.
