He's far from a joke. He hasnt had the best competition but he beat them how he was supposed to. I feel like he's getting better slowly but surely. After the scare with Cotto he learned that natural talent alone wont get him where he wants to be. Unlike an Amir Khan or Maidana who havent shown thw will to improve from fight to fight. Canelo has become more of a ring general. In order to work on that aspect he has to fight guys who allow him to dictate pace.

Though it makes boxing fans restless to know that he has belts hostage in the end Golden Boy is doing the right thing for him. I see the path they want him on and it makes complete sense.
